Hi all
We are having a collection at the Liberal Club on the day of the Middlesbrough game to try and raise £500 for a memorial plaque in honour of Lee Rigby. Any donations however small will be most appreciated. Any excess money will be donated to the families chosen charities
Kind Regards
Gavin

Gav can I ask the reason for this? Not saying we shouldn't do it or anything like that and I am certainly not being heartless as I understand the desire by people to do something but wasn't he a Man Utd fan? Not sure why Lee is being connected to Charlton maybe I am missing something.

can we have a collection to shut down woolwich library please ? www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-23359693The book, written in Urdu, reads: "Every Muslim should be a terrorist. "A terrorist is somebody who spreads terror and fear. "Therefore every Muslim should be a terrorist towards immoral people. Any thief or criminal or person of vice should be terrified when they see a Muslim." yet - many, including the Muslim Council of Britain, do not consider Dr Naik an extremist voice

I think, along with quite a few others, that it would be quite nice to have the man remembered locally. Make sure he is not forgotten. It is hardly in the papers even now yet they are still harping on about Stephen Lawrence

Why is this necessary? The unfortunate guy came from up north, had nothing to do with CAFC, supported Man U? His barracks were here that's about it mate!! Maybe the army will name the barracks Lee Rigby Barracks...give 'em a ring eh! Next it'll be the council naming a place Lee Rigby Way or a block of flats Lee Rigby House. What this sentiment stuff all the time!! Got sod all to do with "doing the right thing" just bewildering!

why should I have to explain why I and other people like the idea? I have asked if people would like to contribute, if not then fine.

Banning books is never a good idea and a slippery slope. Not banning books is what sets us apart from bigots like him. Not sure about actually buying them for a library though.

Read about this collection on the Lee Rigby twitter account and in the Standard, We have a connection with the Barracks as it is just down the road and I might be wrong on this but I think they are given free tickets for all home games. Anyway Gav did not say you have to give he was just pointing out it was there if you wish to.

Well done Gav on behalf of all Charlton fans who were sickened by what happened on our doorstep.
I worked in Woolwich 25years ago, I don't recognise the place now.
