Just a quicky here guys.
I am awaiting the outcome of a recent interview and wondered could the company gain access to my Police records without my consent.
Looking around the internet it would appear not as the company have to seek my permission but I am alarmed by how many underhand companies that there are on line which somebody can just pay a fee and all the info on somebody is there for them to see.
Don't get me wrong the job concerned had no application forms involved which is where they would normally ask you to list any convictions (however petty which mine are), and there was no question of a criminal record in the interview, but I had it a week ago now and had a call last Friday which sounded positive telling me I would know by phone on Tuesday morning (tomorrow) as I had made the shortlist.
Im the type that would worry myself into an early grave about nothing as once I get something into my head that's it, it must be happening and in this case im wondering if the week since I had the interview has been used trying to gain access to my records even though I am aware that to do so through the right channels, the Police, they would need my permission.
Anybody with an insight on this matter?

Well I would never have guessed that Reams If convictions were an issue they would most likely have asked already. anything minor over 10 years old should be spent in any case. The delay in getting back to you means little. Normally means an inefficient HR team or that they are taking up your refererences or you came second and they are waiting for the first choice to say yes before telling you no Good luck and I hope you get it but don't kill yourself worrying about it. That will get you nowhere and just stress you out. Focus on the fact that in your first job application for ages you got an interview and then got shortlisted. Doing well so far I'd say.

If they are really that bothered, working with children or money they could get a CRB check, but you would have to consent to it and they would pay a fee.. Parking tickets don't count anyway!!
