At the end of last season Pardew made a comment that he would be pro-active in his transfer dealings and by doing so will get a march on our rivals, can't see it myself as from events over the last six weeks it would appear that, apart from Hudson signing and Toddy's year extension, other clubs are preparing for next season more forthcoming than us.
Being pro-active in my book is getting in there first and not waiting to see prime targets sign for other CCC clubs, can only presume from his actions that AP is waiting to see who's left on the shelf (inactive), so to speak, that he knows will want to come to Charlton and be proud to wear the shirt.
I may be wrong but too many prime targets, in my book, are being lined up with Palarse, Norwich, Ipswich, QPR etc. and with just 4 weeks to pre-season's first game at Welling (9th July) or are we going to find ourselves with unfit late signings, as in previous years, who won't be ready to play until mid October or even later.

I am sure there are things going on behind the scenes Vv but I agree it is growing very tedious waiting day in day out for news of new players.
My issue is, I do not think that Pardew is a good judge of quality players anyway, last season proved that and I will not be surprised at all to learn that we have to sell to buy yet what we spend will only be half of what we have generated anyway from outgoing players, we have previous where that is concerned.
I would be very surprised if the feelers were not out on players but are they the players we are desperate for?
Don't forget clubs know we have parachute money and will inflate prices because of it, if only they knew the truth.
The bottom line is we have to go into the new season with a better squad than we did last year or we can forget it.
In order to do this Pardew has to fall and knock his head or something to give him a wake up call because I genuinely believe that he thinks that alot of our players are better than what they really are as he is still holding on to the myth that we have a midfield Oozing premiership experience and quality in the shape of Thomas, Ambrose and Holland when in truth they wouldn't have got into most of the sides that finished above us last season.

Guys
to be honest has any one really done a lot of business yet? It is like this every year and only the real big guns can do deals so far in advance. I agree it's not ideal getting players in so close to the start but it's the same for everyone.
