The question needs answering is "Why are Charlton not pro-active in the transfer stakes?", it's been the same for years, with us signing in the final week or so of the window of unfit players no one else really needs, who then take three months to gain the fitness levels that would have been reached 'IF 'they were signed prior to pre-season warm up matches.
We are Charlton, We do it our way!

I don't think it's a case of not being pro-active Vv im sure there are certain things going on behind the scenes but what concerns me is that we are going to lose a £250k snip who is a very good player, because it doesn't look like we can match Norwich's wage offer.
Of course im just reading between the lines but for what other reason would he choose Norwich over us?

There you go again Paul...it's a player YOU fancy and he 'possibly' goes elsewhere...who gives a fuck...not me for one, cos you can't win em all. What's your problem mate...I just can't work you out sometimes, are you a real die hard Addick or not, it seems that if the club don't do 'exactly' what you want or perceive they should do in the transfer market they are a bunch of wankers... despite you not having a fucking clue whats going on behind the scenes...sometimes I have to wonder about you Paul! Live with it, not every player who's up for grabs that you, me or anyone else fancies will, or is going to, join The Addicks...nuff said FFS!!!!

For a start I never said sign him it's only what I have seen banded about and during it I haven't seen a post anywhere that didn't want Hoolahan to put pen to paper.
As for you saying im not a die hard fan because I get the ump if they don't do what I want them to do in the transfer market well if you are happy to sit around like we have done for the past two seasons waiting for some quality to be signed then be my guest but I differ Stu.
No I don't have a clue what is going on behind the scenes I don't really want to know to be honest but I suspect it's quite alot as it's not just players we need it's a new sponsor to go on a new kit when they finally decide what the kit will look like.
Pardew's Fooking fast enough organising trips to Spain again though isn't he how many was it last year? 2 I believe and for what?
Never mind all the bollox about selling to buy, some of our lot you couldn't flog in a car boot sale so get rid and bring in better players as im not in the mood for the same excuses next season.
If and it is an if, Hoolahan has chosen Norwich some questions need to be asked why because not so long back we were a tempting proposition.
We could have had quality in Hoolihan for £75k more than we are prepared to pay for a non league player so where has the breakdown occurred? I can only think it's over wages but we are getting a £2m player for peanuts therefore you should use the saving on the fee to pay the guy what he deserves as Norwich seem to have done.

'Fraid I agree with the Rev, Reams - you just can't win them all. Norwich have released eight or nine so far. They may as a result have some decent wages to offer and some transfer cash in the kitty. It may be the bloke loves carrot crunchers, or always wanted a boat on the Norfolk Broads. There are so many possible reasons why players go to other clubs or maybe you think we should just break the bank to sign anyone? He's a good player but there are others out there who might be better value.

Move to Norwich? It could all be a decoy, smoke & mirrors stuff.
If the SLP says he favours a move to London, then I doubt it's Millwall or Palace they're talking about .........

Going to Norwich lamentably. Decent player and shocked he joined them as i don't see them as anything but a club who are slipping further and further down the league. They were saved by Roeder's management last year but there's a big difference between staying up and challenging for the league. This year will be a different kettle of fish as all 3 promoted teams are decent and i can really see them struggling.

Rev, my brother did some work around Shelbourne (Wes's old club) and said that it was common knowledge for a while that he would be heading there due to comments from family members. I agree that he ain't gone yet and i'd like him to sign but as i saw elsewhere, someone said we aren't even in for him, which could well be the case.

Well, if he's '100% nailed on' to join Naaarich all I can say is that he seems to be taking one hell of a long time to put pen to paper. There may be various reasons why this may be the case of course, for all we know he might be away on his hols! Not saying he's joining us or that we've even enquired about him, but somehow I have a sneaky suspicion that he won't now be joining Naaarich. I could be wrong but the longer this drags on the less likely it looks as far as he and they are concerned.

We all no doubt remember that Antony Stokes was on his way for a medical with us having agreed to join us from Arsenal when his car mysteriously turned left towards Sunderland on his way back from Glasgow. There's many a slip twixt cup and lip.
