Pretty open in the first five minutes, nothing of note except for Shelvey getting a stern talking-to in the first few seconds for an awkward studs-up challenge. No cards were produced, but the referee might be watching him...

Shelvey has thrown a couple of elbows about challenging for the ball during the course of the game so far, but apparently he's just completely floored one of their players with a 'vicious' and 'disgusting' (according to Steve Brown) elbow. He got away with a yellow card, but should have walked, apparently. Lucky escape!

1-0 Orient, goal completely against the run of play from a free kick near the corner flag. Good header apparently.

Eliott not coming out for it me thinks. Flappling at thin air according to Stevie Brown. Need a goalkeeper me thinks.

Agreed, Elliot is not as good as people make out, very suspect on crosses against Wycombe too.

Half time 1-0. Orient took total control after their goal came against the run of play, and we turned into the 'same old Charlton', mysteriously attempting to play long balls forward (which even an olympic sprinter would struggle to catch) when we're only playing with one aging striker. Stevie Brown has been pulling his hair out - just why can't we play a shorter pass to the FIVE midfielders we have instead of just blasting the ball straight through to their keeper and inviting more pressure? Apart from Shelvey's booking, Sam has also picked up a yellow or using his elbows. I'm thinking this could be the game where switching to a 4-4-2 could work. But... Do you take Shelvey off? And which striker would you bring on; McLeod, Fleetwood or Gray? I'd give Fleetwood another shot (as my hero Dickson has been omitted from the squad again). McLeod was erratic against Hereford, and I don't think Gray has the pace to cope with our long balls forward! Fleets only narrowly missed a breakaway goal against Hereford, and he'd be my choice tonight. What about you chaps?

Typical Charlton, Tuesday night, away from home, against supposedly lower opposition, and what happens, never mind there are always the super subs

We haven't got another striker good enough to play 4-4-2 and certainly not one who can make a difference although I had a dream the other night that McLeod scored 2

Apparently Shelvey just played a short free kick square to Llera of all people, who hit the ball from 30 yards viciously and their keeper had to make a blindin' save to keep it out. Could he be the new Steve Brown? Oh yeah, he can't be... Brownie would have scored.

Warnock plays him either as a second striker or as a midfielder right behind a lone striker... And he did have a good finish. And he ALWAYS scored against Ipswich - that's why they wanted to sign him back last season; until they actually saw him play, that is!

1-1! Shelvey YESS!!! ;D Sam poked it through to Shelvey, who brought it down on his chest and drilled the shot home as it dropped to the ground. Beautiful.
