I think the lad has come on heaps and bounds under NJ.
Obviously carried an injury last season so when Nathan came in he took him out of the side to recover and get fit and it worked wonders for the lad. He looks a rock so far and formed a great defensive with Gillesphey and Mitchell.
Not sure if this went unnoticed from yesterday but watch Lloyd when Mitchell loses the ball and Bolton push forward and have an attempt on target.
Jones is the first to throw his body in the way and attempt to block the shot and at least narrows the angle but I loved the way he still sensed a danger and got up off his backside and ran 10 yards to prevent Dion Charles from getting a clean strike on goal.
Great defending.
Passage of play occurs 0.35 seconds into the highlights.

I was pretty critical of Jones last season, he made basic defensive errors which resulted in us conceding goals and ultimately he was dropped from the team
This season he looks a completely different player playing in that central role of the three…..He hasn’t lost a header so far and is always trying to win the ball in front of his attacker….
Cambridge fans really rated him and we didn’t see the real Jones last season…..just like Coventry he has now settled and had a full preseason behind him and it helps having a quality CB in Mitchell playing next to him and a quality CDM in Coventry in front of him….

Great defending. Passage of play occurs 0.35 seconds into the highlights. He looked our best defender last year, (when he played) but has gone up a level this year. NJ has put his arm around him, and given him some confidence. Making him vice captain has made it clear to Lloyd, and the rest of the defence, that he's the main man, and Lloyd has risen to the challenge. However, with SCMP raising its ugly head, and Lloyd being in the last year of his contract, we need some way of offering him an improved contract, before another "Dobson" situation arises. Because I have no doubt that he will have suitors...
