Got up at 5am this morning to find this little surprise. Thanks Avanti trains for yet another cancellation. The sooner this absolute shower of shite lose their franchise the better. Only other train that gets me there on time is from Chester which arrives at the ground 10 minutes before the 12:30 KO. Leaves no time for a bite to eat and a beer which is all part of the matchday experience. Train leaves Euston coming home at 16:02pm so because of the cancellation it would have been a case of getting off a train, into the ground, out of the ground 95 minutes later straight onto a train to Euston then on another back to Wrexham. 12 hours basically sat on my arse with no time to enjoy the day out so Sky Sports + it is! 😡  |

The worst part of it is I won't get the money back for my match ticket which is fair enough, but Avanti won't refund me for my journey home as that train is running. They are totally oblivious to the fact that they've ruined my day out because of this mornings cancellation. Twats!!

That's crazy they prevent you getting there but don't refund the train you miss because of it?? Thieving bastards. |

Worst Rail company on the whole network, and that includes South Eastern.
We're going to Frisco, LA and then down to San Diego to take in that wonderful city and the Breeders Cup in October.
Evening flight with our journey down to Heathrow earlier in the being by train and guss who.....Avanti!
We're not risking it. We'll go by car now or Cross Country trains via Birmingham and Reading.

Such a shame your plans have been scuppered by the rail company. I suspect, with more rail strikes announced recently to be held at weekends, travel to games will cause problems for many over the next few months - unless there’s a solution.
Hope the Sky Sports+ transmission experience today is better than the Birmingham game, picture kept freezing (very frustrating), or at least it did for me.

I'd take that further, matter of principle. If you can't get Avanti to sort it, rail ombudsman. |

We're travelling during midweek with them mate down to heathrow early afternoon so it shouldn't be too busy.
As for Avanti they are absolute cockwombles. Cowboys that took over from Virgin Trains. 31 cancelled trains already in August and yet the Government just keep on throwing the franchise at them.
Had a chat with Trainline this morning who are giving me the refund on the outward journey but can't for the return as Avanti are saying that train is still scheduled to run so they are charging me for a ticket that I can't use because they hooked the train I was supposed to be on to get me there in the first place!

Don't know whether to laugh or cry!! Avanti cancelled my train this morning which meant I would not make it to Charlton in time for the 12:30 KO. If I had of gone my train home from Euston would have been at 4:02pm so I would have needed a quick exit from the stadium to make it back to Euston on time which would have meant that if I had gone to the game, I would have missed the goal!!
