Couldn’t really care less about the result tonight but the performance is worrying. We’ve done nothing since the goal and they haven’t come out of second gear.

Absolutely pathetic, sideways backwards, cross, out it goes. Have to agree, pathetic. Shocking how no one can hold the ball in midfield and pick a decent forward pass. As zheng said result doesn't matter but the performance just wow!

Aneke just played a glorious pass into Ramsay, cross field with the outside of his foot. The wing-back's touch showed too much of it to the defender though.

Ball falls kindly for Docherty but he drags across goal from a difficult angle

Men against boys tonight…..out passed, out moved by a team who have recruited a squad to get out of this division……the type of recruitment we can only dream about
I wonder if the Wigan manager still feels we will finish second this season……

It's the cup mate and we weren't miles off them in the end. Saturday is much more important.

Looked as abject as some of the performances under Appleton. 99% of us know we haven't the quality. Any news on Leaburn???

I don't care about the result or the competition but I do care about our chances of success this season and based on what I have seen of the back up squad tonight it will take a brave man to gamble on us finishing higher than 16th this season.
Youngsters not good enough, Small couldn't be arsed, Berry a real let down, Edun is a waste of a shirt, I could go on but won't because some of those players are not worth the air time.
My question is who is picking these kids, Jones or some clown upstairs.

Sorry mate, I must have watched a different game to you, they didn’t really have to get out of first gear to beat us…..they had far better technical players, their press was far superior to us, Their passing and movement off the ball a different league to us…and they changed 8 from their first eleven from Saturday……..The only positives I can take is that is that we stayed in the game so long and the wake up call this would have been for NJ……

Take it on the chin! We’ve lost from a worldy being scored against us! This rebuild will take more than a season. We have players like Aneke who are our highest earners which is impacting our recruitment. Wouldn’t be surprised if this season is recruiting defensively whilst next season is offensively. Likes of Watson, Edun, Fraser will be released next summer. Being in this league for a while now we are used to it financially!

That was shocking from start to finish attacking wise.
Exactly the same as it was up at Wigan.
We haven’t replaced CBT or May.
Coventry & The Defence were the only one’s who deserve any sort of credit after that performance.
Tennai Watson & Edun both need to be sold.
Godden already struck by our injury curse it seems.

New broom?? New 'style' of football. It all looks horribly familiar to me. Passing back and side then a long kick forward where we are usually out jumped by the opposition defenders. And throw ins from high up the pitch going back and ending up with our goalie for another hopeless punt forward. Birmingham's passing was crisp and accurate and they hardly ever resorted to long ball.

Powder puff up front, apart from the penalty save their keeper didn't have a save to make even though we had 4/5 good/half chances.
They just passed it around us and were far the better team.
Can see why Edwards is first choice at LWB, Small was hopeless second half and Edwards is far superior at defending.
Not a lot of positives to take from tonight, I hope the coffers haven't dried up because we desperately need 3/4 more.

Yep Coventry was the only player looking like sticking a tackle in….the rest couldn’t get near them for most of the game…. The back three did ok all things considered…..

Far too many League 2 performances from our players, difficult to understand the lack of ability on display. Hope the loan market throws us some quality.

I think there have been some overreactions here, although I do think for most of the second they dominated and we couldn't get near them but they never really had any clear cut chances, after the subs we were back in it, but the final ball and bit of quality was lacking. Unfortunately Small did have a bit of a shocker, but I'm sure he will come good. On the other side, Watson looked poor.
I'm not going to judge everyone too harshly from 2 games in, I think they deserve a chance before we get the knives out.
I do still expect some outgoings and incomings to improve the squad though.

Another hard watch
The creativity in this team is non existence. We need players who have a bit of quality on the ball. Can’t see where the goals or chances will come with the players we’ve got.
On a positive we look a lot more solid at the back
