NJ obviously sees him as a regular starter then, so Coventry, Berry, Anderson and Taylor (plus any new signings) will need to fight over the other two slots?

Really surprised at this. I presume it means we won't be seeing Sonny Bradley and possibly Bergovic given they were both captains at their clubs last season.
Docherty doesn't make it in my midfield so to learn he is captain is a concern.
I think this raises more questions than answers.

Was expecting a CM as captain (either Docherty or Berry) and a CB as vice-captain (Jones or Mitchell).
Jones has been made vice (and was briefly captain at Northampton) so that seems fair enough to me.
I guess they had to make a decision before the big pre-season friendly and couldn't wait on people not yet signed before deciding.
I assume we'll announce the season's shirt numbers tomorrow too.

With Lloyd Jones being made Vice Captain it looks like NJ is only looking for that left sided CB……maybe as in Potts |

The perfected player to lead by example for what Jones, is try to build here.
Someone that will not stop running and is a pressing no8 that fits are system and is a brilliant replacement for Dobson.

For what it's worth, I think he'll make a good captain. Jones vice is ok as well. Wouldn't have minded Mitchell who seems very vocal as well. Although having him and Jones communicating a lot should be a positive.

Sorry but I am still not convinced about Jones…….he defended pretty poorly at times last season…..…really hoping he proves me wrong…..and if/ when he does I will be the first to hold my hands up….👍 |

I have to be honest, I'm not comfortable for a brand new signing to be Captain.
I would have preferred if it had been someone that had played a number of games for us.
He's not even English! :-)

It’s interesting all the publicity the club has come out with this afternoon regarding the Docherty appointment….. Personally I like the idea of having leaders( or grown ups as Grapevine puts it wonderfully well) all over the park, and I think we already have this with Mitchell, Berry and Godden…..If we also bring in Begovic and Potts that will be another couple of players I who have captained their previous teams so another couple of leaders……There is a pattern going on here that NJ is developing….. I would personally have prefferred all the publicity today to be about both Begovic and Potts signing rather than who is wearing the arm band this season…… |
