Ramsay on Ahadme in Slovenia:
“Gass [Ahadme] is a machine, I haven’t even seen that much of him but he’s crazy! After training he’s doing gym, after gym he’s probably training again upstairs in his room. He’s serious!”
Good to know.

I just want to post that video of Ahadme's goals at Cambridge again.
Take the penalties out of the clip and just watch how many of the goals come about from decent crosses into the box. Even the corners are telegraphed to land on his nut!
I don't get inswinging corners. Chances are the ref is going to blow for a free kick on the keeper, so just telegraph them and aim for just in front of the 'D'. He scores two headers from standing positions, one of them against us.
So far because of the way we are set up he is playing with his back to goal 30 yards out trying to get onto long balls and those he does win just get swept up by defenders. We have got to play to his strengths because he is no mug in the air.
We have got Ramsay and Small on the flanks but despite them pushing forward the final ball isn't that great, Small needs to get his head up more for a start.
I don't get bringing this lad in who is a different type of striker but have a gameplan that makes him ineffective. This is where you need a CAM running at defenders and setting Small and Ramsay on their way by playing the ball out wide to them to put in a first time cross, no fannying around with stepovers, and I assure you Ahadme will get on the end of them especially if they have a bit of whip on them.
Look at the balls he gets on the end of here. Fizzed in while defenders are often tracking back when they are unbalanced.

Is Ramsay a crosser of the ball? Asiimwe is. Tennai tries but he’s terrible at it.
Small isn’t imo as his final passing is lacking. Edward’s prefers to cut inside by the looks and cross from there.
Not sure we play for crosses?

About the only one who would be capable of crossing in Campbell.

I'm not sure we've had a player who could cross a ball properly since Gudmundsson left. The last couple of seasons it's been atrocious.

Anyone at Wigan last week would see Edwards can take a corner

Shame Jonny Robinson isn't still around. What a cross that guy had on him.

Thanks for re posting the Ahadme goals video. In 69 League 1 appearances Gassan has registered 18 goals. Miles Leaburn in 48 League 1 appearances has registered 15. Now Miles is 2-3 years younger and a different calibre of player but he has operated within the one club environment while Gassan has fought to build a career across 5 or 6.
As Reams positions the video speaks to the service he feeds off in providing a goal threat. As evidenced with the right delivery he will score goals. Will he be prolific? Probably not but a contribution 10-15 goals per season should not be beyond him. Every striker needs the right level of service as anyone who saw Hales play for Derby or West Ham will testify. Indeed if Powell and Flanagan were in the mix Ahadme would probably look three times the player. He is palpably no Hales but their early delivery from advanced wide positions would give him something to attack. He is getting precious little to work with.
Messrs Ramsay, Watson, Edwards and Small need to find their inner Powell & Flanagan. None of the current central midfielders offer any flexibility in breaking into wide positions as per a Colin Walsh.
Right now the lad is delivering to the Jones plan he is being asked to play and the reason he was brought in. As with many modern coaches Jones works to a 16 player team match day performance. At its base level it is to work the Central Defenders for 60-75 minutes no matter the quality of delivery, defend from the front, get us up the pitch and force defenders into mistakes even if it is only for others to prosper. Ahadme and indeed Campbell are tireless in such pursuit. Is it pretty? No. Is too much of the play muddled and confused? Yes but we are talking 150 minutes of game time.
I ain’t getting pissy about anybody after 150 minutes. For now he is most certainly putting in a shift for the team and is hugely deserving of our support. There remains a deal of growing to do.

Another brillinat post grapevine. Two great minds think alike. Give him the right service and he will deliver, maybe not as potently as previous strikers but he is a real threat in the air, a right handful if played right. Pointles having a powerful gun for when you need it but not loading it!
