I was expecting a price increase after the first cut off point it was promoted that way.
I’m guessing that the season tickets have not been great.

Thought the season tickets went up by £10.In the AC stand the £450 one is £460 now. I think the modest increases this season from phase one to phase two are because the season tickets are not great value, compared to buying match by match. I don't think the club didn't want to discount too much in phase one, which is fair enough, yet knew it would never sell any more after the price increase if they put it up by too much. As it stands the most expensive seats are £640 and 23 x £30 is £690. So Phase one worked out at 23 games for the price of 21 and phase two is 23 games for more than the price of 21. Miss two games and it's cheaper to pay as you go. I'm not sure that I, completely, disagree with this pricing. If the club is going to compete at the top of the division and the games are going to be desirable from game 1 to game 23. Where fans might be in two minds is if they believe that we will have nothing to play for by the end of March and suspect that they will swerve a few games, plus miss one or two midweek games in the winter when they are on the tele. Obviously, I am assuming that the club will not raise the £30 match ticket price. If they put that up to c. £35 then all of my calculations will be off. Either that or more people will buy tickets in the cheap blocks and sit in the expensive ones.

They will never sell season tickets until fans know what the squad is going to look like.
There are 14-15k empty seats at every home game so why commit? As things stand the number sold is pretty low. Down on previous seasons I'm told.

Join 7,000 Addicks who have already got their season ticket to be a part of Nathan Jones’ red and white army for the 2024/25 campaign. Season tickets start at just £325 for an adult – which equates to just over £14 per game.

Was going to try and hold out until the squad took shape, but, I really don’t want to loose my seat as there is 11 of us sitting together

Down on previous seasons I'm told. They've just published sales at 7,000 which is higher than the lowpoint after relegation back in 2016. Think there might be a few thousand sitting on the fence today waiting to see who we sign AND how we look in friendlies. If they can land a decent keeper, a couple of midfielders AND Leaburn hits the ground running, then ST sales will be higher than they have been for a while.

I'm sure the tv deal this season will mean that we sell fewer season tickets than we could have done.

I'm sure the tv deal this season will mean that we sell fewer season tickets than we could have done. I suspect that the new TV deal, that was heralded as great by Charlie Methven, will actually remove some competitive advantage for the bigger clubs in some divisions. Small clubs, with small fan bases, will receive the same TV windfall and the bigger clubs will, probably, lose more revenue from fans deciding to pick and choose their games. It might make some of the divisions more competitive but as soon as the players, and their agents, allocate the TV money into their pockets we will be no better off, yet smaller clubs, that we could outspend with ease, will have bigger budgets. For certain, midweek games, in the winter, are going to be very poorly attended. I suspect that we could see some record low attendances this season. It is this phenomenon that has enabled the likes of Bournemouth, with a stadium capacity of c. 11,000, and Brentford, c. 17,000, to outspend, almost all, of the Championship clubs. The new EFL deal will, probably, make the gap between the Championship and League One bigger than ever. It's very short sighted by those running the clubs. Anything to boost short term revenue - even though we all know that sooner or later the extra revenue will end up in the pockets of the players and their agents.

This is why Charlie etc are very keen to improve the whole match day experience. So fans are attending not just for the game but for all the others things going on that day. Food, entertainment etc etc. Also means people spend more if they are arriving earlier or leaving later due to what is on offer around the stadium and surrounding areas.

Food, entertainment etc etc. Also means people spend more if they are arriving earlier or leaving later due to what is on offer around the stadium and surrounding areas. I get that but, let's be honest, the food and drink is way overpriced and average quality, at best. If you don't go into one of the lounges, you are outside where is it going to be cold for most of the season. The truth is that the football is the only reason I go to The Valley. If I wanted to spend £5 on a coke and/or £6 on a crappy burger, I'd go to a warm pub, or a restaurant. We have had several owners, as have other clubs, that go in the £500 a season lounges and eat food, that is nothing like the burgers, and assume that, with a little tweaking, they can convince fans to ignore the quality (and results) of the football, and come along, get to the ground early, and drop another £15 per fan in the freezing cold. It has never worked! I have been entertained at several grounds, and the day out is amazing, but those days cost upwards of £250 - and I've never been invited to one outside of the Premier League. I get that some like a pint, or two, before the game (not for me, personally) and I have been in the bar in the North Stand, which is ok, but I would always prefer a pub - especially if it's a cold day and for many, that travel, the day is long enough without spending any more time at the ground. I have to confess. I do get frustrated when football is as expensive as it's ever been (tickets, football shirts - 3 new ones every season) and the players and the club executives are richer than they have ever been, yet they never seem to stop wanting to find more ways to take money off the fans.

I have bought a Season ticket. I have also bought Valley Gold. The first time since Duchatelet’s reign. I am feeling very bullish about the Club, at the moment. Let us hope that my positivity is not mislaid.
