Payne has been bloody awful
No Hector. Jones or Ness, we really need to get these fit and ready for Orient
Not impressed with AMB , defensively we look poor and we simply can’t start the season with just May up front, he needs a partner

Blackett-Taylor not a wing back leaves too much space behind him
The midfield is a bit meh that includes Dobson.

AMB - Couple of good saves but again beaten by a free kick positioning ??
Thomas - Ok made some poor decisions
Mitchell - The best of the defence tonight
Elewere - Done ok but , just needs to control the ball better
Payne -Not really stamped his mark on the game
Dobson- Poor foul for the goal , passing could be better
Anderson - better if the 3 midfielders so far done ok
CBT - please not a wing back , again has so many opportunities to create and only managed two crosses the whole half got to do better
Asiimwe - Had a good game tonight
Campbell - took his goal well and could have had a second
May - Looked very good excellent movement

The slightly worrying thing for me is we still look defensively weak and likely to concede a goal. I know it's still early days and we haven't seen Jones yet, but it needs addressing.
We played some nice stuff, but I thought Gillingham edged that half. Terrible positioning by AMB for their goal, I can see Isted being first choice when the season starts!

Agree I think Isted, Ness, Hector and Jones will be the core of the defense AMB did look flaky back end of last season and as much as he pulls off decent saves he also lets in soft goals and tonight’s goal was pretty poor and didn’t take much to beat him |

CBT actually going down the line a few times, which then allowed him a bit extra space when he cut inside and scored. I like May already. He’s going to give us something different this year. As I type this he just missed a pen 🤦♂️🤣 I’m still worried our squad doesn’t currently match how Dean wants to play. I assume we’ll be selling some players soon and start to see what squad he’s building. |

Much better first 20 minutes of the second half, upped the tempo and scored two goals.
Alfie May looking sharp, shame about the penalty, but with some quality around him I'm sure he will score us plenty of goals.

Charlton dominated second half, and we looked stronger and fitter then Gillingham as the game went on. Apart from
10/15 mins in the first half when Gillingham started pushing us deeper and making it difficult to play out, think that was a very pleasing performance.
Special mention for the young players who are really giving DH a headache.. Mitchell was outstanding at the back and Anderson and Asiimwe were very impressive as well.

Other than another left back/wing we are fine with defenders.
What impressed me was the youngsters. In fact I don’t know why re-signed Thomas. If they can continue their progress we could be a force.
Need strikers as I said before May is a good signing.

It be honest I was expecting much more from Gillingham you hear about their new owners and the players they signed and want to sign but have to say they were not very good, I know we played well but i
expected to see a team that you can see winning league two and I never saw it in them players
