For me, it highlights we have a long way to go in the transfer window. 4/10 so far from what we’ve secured to what we need overall.
I’m keen to see who we bring in because I’m concerned at the moment that Dean is playing a formation that he wants with players that aren’t suited to it. Hopefully we are looking at players that will fit the formation and way we want to play.

Player assessment for second team
Isted - to be fair hardly tested in the last two sessions Asiimwe - not has good as Dartford but worth being in and around the first team Chin - Again very good didn't think he done himself any harm is far Hector -- Very Good very calm and it rubs off on those around him Elerewe - Very good he moved ahead of Mitchell in my book Bakrin -like this kid again looked very assured Payne - Why Why ahead of Henry done well today McGrandles-- Impressed with him again Dobson - Very good DJ -- Sorry not good enough needs to move on Kanu -- Loan deal needed Campbell -- Another that needs to do a bit more

Think we looked quite sluggish, Hector, Payne and Dobson were the only three from that half that I think would be even close to a promotion-challenging side. Overall I actually think the only players we have at that level are Isted, (maybe)Egbo, Hector, Dobson, Fraser, May and Leaburn. Everyone else not listed imo should only be support players. I'm not too concerned yet, plenty of business still to happen.

Typical pre-season game, bit of a bore fest really, will be totally different come the first game of the season. What it does highlight is that if we are to be serious contenders for promotion, we need at least 6/7 quality players to come in. 1 right (wing) back, 2 left (wing) backs, a holding midfielder, a number 10 and two strikers. Let's hope the information that has been fed to Paul comes to fruition! We've known for a while that we need six quality additions and the takeover has dragged on thus eating up time. We might only have three weeks until the big kick-off at the Valley but there's plenty of time until the window closes end August. Therefore we will get players, and ideally Leaburn makes a return in the not too distant future. For sure we need full/wing backs, a midfielder or two and others. But perhaps best not be too specific about positions until we watch the Orient game on the 5th - see what system(s) we play and where there are obvious weaknesses. It's gonna take time for Holden to evolve our side into a genuine top six contenders. But at least he's already had seven months to assess where we are at and start the transformation.

I can see a midfield of Dobson, Frazer and Lanzini. 😬👌
