I know we all want to be excited about new player signings but as I said earlier , IF ( and I know that’s a big IF) we are prepared to spend £500k ( on JCH) and £700k ( on Collins) The common sense approach should be to wait until the summer and let the new manager spend the money then. I agree. Hopefully we have enough to stay up and then let's have a proper rebuild over the summer. Bolton were in a worse mess than us not that long ago. It took them a season to get rid of the dead wood and rebuild. In the 12 months since they have turned the club on it's head. That is what we need to be looking to replicate. Bolton were broke and went down to League 2. Since they came back up, they finished mid-table in 2021-22 (but still above us) and in the playoffs last season. I guess that is what you call progress?

Question - would people prefer new signings or new manager today (if it’s one of the other)?
I’d vote for a manager

We’ve gone from being linked with JCH and a bid for Collins to someone from Brighton who probably no one has heard of. Desperate times. You're joking surely? Evan Ferguson is one of the hottest young strikers in the world. A regular for both Brighton in the PL and the senior Ireland side. Transfermarkt value him at £65m. The highest valued player in all of L1 at present is worth £4m (a Liverpool right back on loan at Bolton). Indeed, the whole of L1 (all 24 teams' full squads including the players they have on loam) is worth around £200m. So Ferguson is worth around the same as a third of the entire division! Of course he's not coming to us. The fact you would seemingly be disappointed if he did is perhaps a sign of how overambitious/delusional some of our fans have become! x Not joking at all - simply hadn’t heard of him, and I’m pleased to be educated accordingly.

In case anyone didn't twig, that Twitter account linking us with Evan Ferguson is a spoof/banter site run by a Palace fan. Almost entirely consisting of piss takes of Brighton (and roping us in re that last one). PS Chelsea have been linked with a move for Ferguson (who Brighton value at around £100m) this window.

At this stage, bringing in a capable manager outweighs any potential new signings. The current players should be sufficient to maintain our position, provided we have a manager who can instil confidence and organization. If we continue with the 352 formation, a new manager must realise that playing Coventry, Dobson, and Bakinson together is an absolute no-no.

Reams - The point I would also make here is that since the absence of activity will be disappointing to supporters , this is where the club really needs a leader to come out and articulate the strategy. There is a vacuum because Charlie M obviously doesn't want to be the one and neither do any of the investors. Rodwell is unimpressive and Scott’s performance as a player picker so far has been awful. It’s a problem because now they absolutely need to be galvanising the supporters to get behind the team. Maybe they are going to rely on the new manager to do that but it really needs an investor overview

We got too many loans already?. Without a manager I think we're unlikely to get any permanents - why commit if you don't know the incoming manager will like you and vice versa? As I said yesterday I'm just expecting two loans in today, a RWB and a number 10. Agree with both of the above. Why would anybody expect new keepers, centre backs or central midfielders given what we have already? Our new head coach needs to hit the ground running and make choices whenever he arrives at the training ground. The exam question comes in three parts: - Establish a system - Find our first win since late November ASAP - Establish who we need to keep for next season and who needs replacing I was disappointed that Chem Campbell didn't work out but there's no point going over that, nor Fraser. The point is that we need to play May as either a false 9 or a 10. And that means we need alternative options at 9 and 10. Aneke might become our super sub again and Ladapo plus Kanu might keep improving. But fans, investors and SMT may well be looking for more than a "might" at this stage given that our xG for has fallen off a cliff. Five hours to go so let's see where we are at 11pm in terms of the squad and management.

Used to work with a mate of Ramsey! I said a few times he should get himself down to CAFC. Where do I claim my agent fee!!?? For what it’s worth, he was on loan at Crewe at the time and said he’d love to play for Charlton.

My God I'm reading some nonesense on other forums and other CAFC platforms at the moment.
Things like if we had rich owners why are we paying the likes of Harrogate a couple of hundred grand for one of their players? We should be aiming higher, it's all Charlie's fault!!
These are the same people chucking their toys when we didn't sign Luke Armstrong.....from Harrogate!!!
