And if we have any ambition we should go out and get him.
£2.5m is the asking price with Cardiff already in the hunt.
Yes we are over blessed with strikers but too many of them are the same type of player, Chopra can score a goal out of nothing.
My shout is offload McLeod and Iwelumo and bring in Chopra having him Varney, Gray and Todorov as our 4 strikers and Dickson as back up.

and Stuart Fleetwood who will sign for Charlton in the next few weeks
Keep McLoad he is going to be a very good striker, let Big Chris go no problem with that and a big question mark about Toddy becasue that is 2 major injuries now in 2 seasons ...

I really do not see the point in Fleetwood to be honest surely we have previous in signing lower league strikers who have found the step up tough.

I really do not see the point in Fleetwood to be honest surely we have previous in signing lower league strikers who have found the step up tough. It's a gamble mate, pure and simple. I don't have a problem provided the stake money is relatively modest. After all just because we have failed to unearth non-league talent, recently doesn't mean we won't again. If we go back a while, then non-leaguers who made the grade included Paddy Powell, Peter Shaw, and Paul Williams, to name but three.

As for Chopra, well if we can afford him, I'd be happy to sign him. I suspect though that Pards will blow all of his transfer budget on him (unless he can gain some serious wonga from sales). I can't see McLeod going, not with serious knee injury which is going to take the first half of next season to recover. I don't think he'll sell Big Chris unless it's for a striker simliar in stature to him but with more talent. The big target man offers an alternative option which I doubt Pards will want to lose.

It's all the penny pinching looking for a bargain here and a bargain there that gets up my nose especially when I read today that Notts Forest are lining up a £4m bid for Beattie I can see us getting left o the shelf if we are not going to invest on a par with some of the other clubs. I have read a few people on various Charlton sites writing Derby off next season as they have allegedly already spent their parachute payment for next season. I wonder if these same fans have stopped to think that we may have done the same? For me Iwelumo lacks ability so if it means that we have to get him off the payroll to bring in another striker then we must do it because when the truth comes home there are two strikers at the Valley Gray and Varney and that is it. Iwelumo might well put himself about and do this and that but as an all round striker he falls short, Todorov is coming back from his second major injury, we cannot gamble with what he has left in his locker, by all means retain him on some kind of contract but he won't be an automatic choice for the two places and we risk what happened to him this season all over again if we do. Dickson, it amazes me how so many fans look at him as the answer, he is far too raw and the next 2 seasons should be spent working on his rough edges, ok he scored at WBA but was like a cat caught in headlights with that chance at Watford. In saying that if you just want to pick him to put the ball in the net the chances are he'll do it for you but far too often last season because of the shortfalls in midfield the strikers had to come looking for the ball in deep positions and a repeat of this next year is not what Dickson is all about. McLeod, you could toss a coin to be honest he'll either come back firing on all cylinders or his confidence will be shot because of the injury. Walker, is he still with us or has he signed for Southend? Either way from what I have seen in the play-offs he is woefully short of quality. So my theory is keep Varney, Gray and Todorov with Dickson one for the future, the rest get rid and bring in a quality striker.

we really need to sort the midfield out before we spend money on anymore strikers. i feel that the forwards we've got would score a fair few goals with better/increased supply.

Exactly talal....we have to find another Kins or Andy Reid 'before' worrying about yet another striker...quite where and how though is the million dollar question. I fancy that kind of player (if available in the UK) will be being targetted by a whole host of clubs..we'll sadly just be another in the queue. My take is to look abroad...I think we'd have a better shout there.

I know people think our priorities should lie in other areas away from up front, but at this time of year people are trying to bag the free transfers and cheap deals, as well as seeing who's staying and who maybe wants to leave, before moving on to the bigger transfers in the coming weeks. Clubs don't want to move too early because it sometimes takes the summer break before realising exactly who's available and who's not.

I think I have just seen a player in similar stature but has a better alround game and he plays in League 2. Liam Dickenson of Stockport
