The way things are going with VAR, they would probably have disallowed the goal anyway.

let them have it. Oh, they still lost 3 - 2 Agreed they don't have a case as we went on to score another two. Not sure the point of this thread.

The way things are going with VAR, they would probably have disallowed the goal anyway. VAR is the perfect example of why 100% right is not better. Putting aside the ridiculous human errors of last weekend, even if every decision is reviewed and corrected where necessary by VAR, the entertainment value of football run by VAR is hugely diminished. I was watching the Chelsea V Man Utd game the other weekend on the telly. When 0-2 became 1-2 the excitement level ramped up about ten-fold for a minute... Game on! And a cracking goal it was too. Then VAR disallowed it for half a boot being offside in the build-up. Something a real live Linesman would never have done. The bodies of the players were level, and the advantage in such situations was supposed to favour the attacking side. The VAR reverse killed the game. No longer interested, I switched over the TV and watched something else. Great goals are being disallowed for piffling technical infringements. They won't be satisfied until every result on a weekend is 0-0. And fans have to wait for a screen to tell them when to celebrate. Absolute rubbish.

Goals change games. It that decision went against us we'd be arguing the game would have turned out differently. I'll not criticize them for complaining.
Do I care, really? No. These things even out in the long term (although long can sometimes feel like very, very long).

He looks offside to me... Agree that he was probably in front of the ball, but our defender (Pearce?) may be playing him on. There I go perpetuating this thread!

I believe we should take a leaf out of cricket, where the ball hitting stump has to be more than half a ball or is umpire's call. If a guy is goalside by more than half his TORSO offside, otherwise lino's call
