That is good news.
Now he's got to sharpen up his crossing (I'm sure he's working very hard on it).

Contracts being triggered and agreed has gotta be another step in the right direction hasn't it?

Contracts being triggered and agreed has gotta be another step in the right direction hasn't it? Yeah sure. I just meant the tweet " Alfie Doughty has extended his time at the club by signing a new deal till the summer of 2022" was a little misleading as it's the club who have triggered the extension (hopefully with Alfies approval).

Thought he had a poor game tonight , first touch was bad and seemed to play the wrong ball numerous times... Needs a rest, but who else can play the left wing back role, Purrington is an out and out left back.

JFC ... he was making the wing back role his own with decent performances the one at Fulham springs to mind ... and the big advantage is his delivery , Doughty as we discussed many times lot of hope but final ball not good enough YET for championship football

He's already down to 2022? Assume this is just a higher wage to persuade him not to leave?

He's already down to 2022? Assume this is just a higher wage to persuade him not to leave? That 2022 was a typo. The 'deal' earlier in the year was an extension that was part of his contract, not a new agreed contract. It seems very odd that he would be offered a contract now when we don't even know what division we will be in next season. Maybe someone is sniffing around him. However, in any event, offering a new contract is worthless unless the player signs it - look at Aribo!

Fed up with losing our good young talent to other clubs. Why can't there be a rule that if they have been brought up through an academy. Then get into the first team they need to play a certain amount of games .Say like 50 before any team can potentially put a bid in etc

I hate it too, but what I really hate is the clubs like Chelsea and Man City buying young players who will more than likely never see a first team game. That way stopping other clubs getting them, it seems. At least Joe Gomez went on to do something he could never have achieved with us.

A club of Celtic's size looking to buy third division players. The standard up there gets worse every year.

A club of Celtic's size looking to buy third division players. The standard up there gets worse every year. The SPL is absolute dogshit. Joe Aribo may have got his desired ÂŁ20,000, but his football career has stalled (at best) over the last 12 months. Ross County, Hamilton, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, St Mirren......how would playing against this dross further Alfie's career? They are pub team standard.
