So when we win he’s great, when we lose he’s shit... Poor result and not at the office, Luton is a 6 pointer for us which I think we’ll win, but we must defend better than that today... sad to say jeddez, but yes, when we lose, his line ups and tactics have generally been shit, and sometimes when we've won he's also been shit and we've been lucky. I like Lee, but given a choice I'd out him now before it's too late. If we go down to Luton I wont be alone in my views 1. They won’t sack him especially so soon after giving him a 3 year deal. 2. We won’t be relegated. 3. Every team plays shit, every team gets lucky, but you don’t go on a run of luck, we deserved those points we’ve accrued by winning those games! 4. If you’ve returned to the forum to play devils advocate then this will be my last reply to you.

In my opinion to even contemplate sacking Lee Bowyer at this point is incredible.
Even after these poor months, LB has one of the best records of any Charlton manager ever (for an equal number of games played). He has had to put up with Duchatelet, and now the empty promises of Southall.
By budget and squad value, Charlton should be cut far adrift at the bottom of the Championship - at least 5 points below the relegation line, not 5 points and a decent GD margin above it. And then consider the injury nightmare on top of that.
If there is no room for sentimentality in football, then there is no room for celebrating success either. If struggling and short term failure cannot be tolerated and must be punished with sacking, then success is nothing more than doing the job competently. Why should anybody be admired or loved or have his name sung just for doing the job he has been given to do.
Jimmy Seed, Lennie Lawrence, Alan Curbishley. Just doing their job. Why do Charlton supporters even bother to remember their names.

Jeddez - over reaction, AlienA - I have no sentiment to LB because he is an explayer, nor even for getting us promoted. I’m calling it based on the length of time left in the season and that this is his team (warts and all)...

Lardi put a great post above which I agree with totally. It’s also not “Blind Faith” as seriouslyred put it, my positivity is a belief by what I have seen and the abilities of the management team and players that we have enough to stay in the championship, not pushing for playoffs, just staying up, the only objective for this season. Then we have a great chance to improve in the summer as we have these last few seasons.

My positivity is based on there being teams of poorer quality than us. At the start of the season I'd have taken staying up as succeeding and said as much with the same reason. Same stance now.
The business, as someone put it, has chosen as part of a long term plan to keep the management team in place and commit to it. Considering the comical and damaging merrygoround that this decision followed, that is no bad thing. The business will live or die by that decision, as any other would.
We all know that the whole squad requires a serious re build and that could never going to happen in any January window.
