I've been supporting Charlton since 1985. In that time we have had 2 managers who were the 'perfect fit for us: Lennie and A.C. I believe that Lee is also in that category and it could be a long wait for another if we lose him. When Lennie and A.C were appointed there was no reason to believe they would be great Charlton managers. On paper Pardew had the most impressive CV. Unfortunately the same fans who are asking RD to sort out Lee's contract are the same ones who are telling RD to get lost. Had they faced reality a couple of years ago the fanbase might have had more influence. But for the sake of ego and the appearance of doing something (futility) we have burned our bridges and can only hope that our owner sees reason. I agree with you.. I've supported since 1965 and can still say, I agree with those three managers. The most important signing Roland, could ever make is Lee. I'm living in hope, that he sees sense, with this, as many would have jumped ship, like KR. As for the letter, written by the trust, I find it embarrassing to be honest. Was it not one of their well known members, or was she just from WAR, that stated Lee Bowyer was not fit to be our manager?...or words along those lines Now they want to tell him what to do, and expect him to listen.. I think you will find it was the Chair of the CASTrust Mr. Wiseman who was very disrespectful to Lee Boyer (putting it Mildley) on a Sunderland forum before our first game of the season. The same Mr. Wiseman who refused to give his reasons or apologise when challenged at a minuted Charlton Fans Forum meeting The same Mr. Wiseman who sent the letter to RD -- I agree, embarrassing

It is Imperative that Bowyer and his management team are here next season. Hopefully under new owners. Chapionship football, same midfield, same management and same Valley - with the gates up to reflect the quality of the football. Completely agnostic about who owns the club as long as we have appropriate budgets and people running the shop. So many criticising the way our club is run and yet our chances of a Wembley play-off final just went up a notch yesterday.

Which is all down to the Manager, Coach and Gallen choosing the right players. What did Duchatelet do sold Karlan Grant who scored a number of very important goals and replaced him with Parker who hasn't scored for us. You also mention people running the shop, no CEO, no CFO, Murray completely silent for a long time. There is still an awful lot wrong off the pitch. Luckily there is an awful lot right on the pitch.

I thought it was Grants choice to leave and managements decision to bring in Parker?! Seems we’ve done well for not having those positions filled and the noise has come from the pitch which is where most people feel is of higher importance...

Any half decent owner would have given Bowyer a decent new contract weeks ago.

Any half decent owner would have given Bowyer a decent new contract weeks ago. Bowyer says he is not at all disappointed in this interview:
“ It’s not a worry – I’m 99.9% sure it will happen. My focus is on the playoffs and getting up... it might as well just wait. Hopefully we’ll get to Wembley, then it might be announced before that – that would be good.”
The entire interview is very good and positive.
I'm not a big fan of the interviewer - in fact I think she has behaved pretty deplorably and said some unforgivable things over the last couple of seasons. But credit where it is due. She's played it straight in this excellent interview and managed to leave her petty politics and point scoring at the door.

A great read and thanks for the link. Two things come to mind: the author is promoting the club, management and team just like a supporters' trust should... And I wouldn't have seen the interview without the link! Slowly but surely, the Trust need to bury the hatchet with the Club and accept that "it is what it is". Embrace the chaos and encourage fans to just back the lads. Could go further and suggest that the search for a perfect owner is a fools errand... for it's actually the dynamic between the owner, management, players and fans that makes a club... or breaks it. And we can be sure that if Bowyer and RD wish to work together next season then they will surely close that 0.1% gap mentioned by Bowyer. For there's a job to be done at the Valley and it appears we have the right people to deliver!

So here is the latest dribble from the CARD supporting 'Trust':
www.castrust.org/2019/05/what-does-the-sell-out-tell-us-about-our-club/
"...it shows what a tremendous job Lee Bowyer and Johnnie Jackson have done in putting together a squad of players who are not only skilful but also committed to each other and a common cause"
vs
"Bowyer is a controversial figure and as far as I know, he has never apologised for the racism of his younger days. Personally, I’d much prefer a figure like Chris Powell."
Bunch of wankers.

Would anyone really blame him if he did leave ? No matter what he says ,he must be feeling a bit unappreciated, still waiting for an reasonable offer to arrive .
His love of Charlton would make it hard , but in the end he’s just like a player who will always be tempted with a much better offer .
Big mistake to let him go , but does RD even f*****g care ?

"We can't stop you making foolish statements and embarrassing our club" Sounds like CARD and RD have a lot in common - surprised they don't get on.

He is pivotal to the club whilst there is so much continued uncertainty surrounding CAFC I didn't think that LB would be as charismatic as he has been. Players seems to want to die for him, fans just love him and all done in a generally understated way. Really didn't see it coming. And if he can get under the skin of and old cynic like Reams...
