Just a thought I think either Varney or Iwelumo will leave us this summer but which one would you keep based on us bringing their ex strike partner in to play with them. Would you keep Varney and try to bring in Maynard to play with him as they did at Crewe or would you Keep Iwelumo and bring in his ex partner Cureton. Thirdly if the Colchester manager rang Pardew and offered Lisbie for Iwelumo would you take it. My answer is Varney and Maynard and yes to Lisbie

Varney and Maynard
On paper yes but i'd say no as we've been there, he didn't score many goals for us and needed a change. i doubt he'd even want to come back the pressure we put our strikers under.

Lisbie is staying at Colchester, they don't want big Chris back, Cureton now injury prone and why give up his place in an improving team under Glen Roeder (bottom at Christmas), Maynard being chased by three prem clubs at around £3m+.
Suggest keep Varney, Izale McCleod and bring in Earnshaw, however with him being a short lad Pardew's tried and trusted long ball game would go out the window and where would we be then, playing the ball on the ground, heaven forbid..

Varney and Maynard for me, and I'd bring Lis back. I know Lis won't be coming, and I know we'll never sign Maynard as well. But I don't care

The thing some fans don't realise is that Lisbie never played for us in the Championship, just the Prem which was way above his level. I would not be surprised if he makes a return, stranger things have happened

Lisbie back, would mean breaking promises to his family and Colchester fans, which I don't think he will do after not being given a chance by Pardew before kicking him out the door. Can you honestly see Pardew eating a big chunk of humble pie and requesting Kevin to come back and play for Charlton. Not a chance.
