Barnsley manager Daniel Stendel will reportedly leave his role before the club takes on Swansea City on October 19. The German, who managed Hannover before coming to England, has endured a poor start to the 2019-20 season at Barnsley. Saturday's 5-1 defeat at the hands of Preston North End saw Barnsley's record this season extend to just one win from 11 Championship games. With the club sitting 23rd in the Championship, Sky Sports News claim that Stendel is expected to be relieved of his position by the time Barnsley meet Swansea after the international break. The 45-year-old took over in 2018 and immediately guided Barnsley back into the second tier of English football, finishing in second place on 91 points. However, Stendel's last victory came on the opening day of the season - a 1-0 win over Fulham. www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/barnsley/news/barnsley-boss-to-leave-in-next-fortnight_374357.html

Surely give him a bit longer. Wheneber it happens in any league I feel sorry for the manager. Whoevber they bring in, will they make that much of a change? Who is available at this level?

It is sad when a Manager loses his job. In this case though, it could be argued that Stendel is an example of a Manager not fully aware of the demands of Championship football. It is a massive step up from League One and Barnsley did not recruit as well as ourselves or Luton for that matter.

The Championship is a punishing league with very fine lines between sucess and failure... for example, we got a last minute penalty at Oakwell and get a point, they lose 2 points..... against Leeds, we get 3 points from one attack... Quality and depth or squads are important, but sometimes, it could just be plain luck thats the differentiator

They will be elated at Sunderland. They hated Ross there even last season.

I wonder who will be the next manager to lose his job . Seeing the latest casualties, I’m really surprised that Nathan Jones has survived as long as he has.
There is probably some pressure on Kenny Jackett, after the slow start that Portsmouth have made this season, even though he is a proven decent manager.
