Too right! When we look at the squad at 5pm Thursday and the team sheet on Saturday Bonne will be either heading on loan or making up numbers like Parker after January window issues... Let us hope for the former. Josh Parker didn’t make up the numbers after January. He started many games, including the one at Wembley I don't think it's worth reopening the arguments about Josh Parker. Some feel he did a useful job (mostly through sheer effort) while others feel he should have been scoring goals, which was his job. Whether Macauley Bonne stays in SE7 or goes out on loan, let's hope he bags a few goals. Particularly if he stays - we will need every single goal during this Championship season. Despite the two we bagged against Blackburn I think Charlton will find scoring goals generally more difficult during this campaign.

He has proven himself beyond doubt at non-league level. I'd like to see him get his chance in the Championship this season, but if Bowyer thinks he isn't ready and does not play him then fair enough. He's the gaffer.

How was he when he came on? All I heard was that he passed when should have shot but got himself into the position well. Seen people on twitter suggest he should start?

If Hemed doesn’t start to show more than he has so far, I suspect Bonne may get some more opportunities, Aneke also. It’s not as though they could offer much less threat tbh.

Chose to pass from a couple of yards out when it was easy to score. Better than Hemed though. Aneke looked much better than both.

Could be a real success.... Love his work rate, and believe he is improving all the time. Was bound to take a while to adjust, from National league to playing and scoring at Fulham. Well done Macaulay!....

Growing in confidence due to the game time he is enjoying because of Taylor's absence. He is doing himself no harm at all with his performances and goals and I for one am more than happy to proved wrong. He is on a journey and has come a very long way in a short space of time. It's amazing to think that when Taylor picked up his injury Macauley wasn't in the side yet by the time he returns he could be playing alongside a striker who would have scored more goals than him this season. Taylor needs to stay because he and Bonne could strike up a partnership that could take us places we never imagined this season.. Well done Macauley Bonne

Glad he never went on loan an arm around him by Bowyer seems to have worked wonders .Hes taken on board everything the coaches have told him knuckled down worked hard. And now has taken his chance with both hands for me I can only see him getting better and better .And that can only be a plus for us

I reckon, Lee Bowyer has done a great job in protecting this boy, but I also think he knows he could have a real gem on his hands. He works hard, and can quite obviously finish.. He seems also to have fitted in well with our wonderful group of players... Wonderful spirit at the club right now, and was nice to see Jonny Williams walking off st the end of the match, arm around Krystian Bielik...

That finish was top drawer too. Straight out of the Lyle Taylor draw!

Yes agree with all of the above, he is improving every game, and his confidence is rising now. His finish yesterday was top quality, and his strength gave the defenders problems throughout the game. It was noticeable yesterday after he went off , how much less of a threat we were.
Really looking forward to seeing him play alongside Taylor, who I think will improve him even more.

Thought his movement off the ball was very impressive on Saturday and that gave the Derby defence all sorts of problems. Really looking forward to see him and Taylor together.

Some player we got here . Minus the Swansea game has been top class. Still needs to learn parts of the game but think he’s a better finisher than Lyle.

Remember saying on this forum that Bonne was similar to Taylor and can score a goal only to get shouted down again .. well what are people saying now ... some of us watch a lot of non league football and lower leagues and know a player when they see them ... Bonne not proving anything to me because I knew how good he was

He’s definitely improving all the time. Great finish yesterday for the goal. Should’ve scored after that as well if I’m honest.
Plays a few ‘hopeful’ balls which aren’t the right choices at times but he’s getting better at this. Less ‘panic passes’ now.

I’m interested in his valuation as he continues to improve and score at Championship level! A £200k ‘gamble’ could now be worth in excess of £1-2m or even more! Only 23 years old and fortunately on a 3 yr contract. Shows the worth of Gallen and coaches too...

Bonne was a bargain and even if it didn't work out this season, we would still have him for next season. It's not always about the here and now.
And if we get relegated, he'd be ready made for League One (same as Chuks Aneke). Again, sensible thinking by LB etc.
If Bonne continues in this form, he'll be on the radar for other clubs....that's life and something that will have to be dealt with in due course.
Good for him, taking his chance. Even if we get back to full strength, he's probably got himself a place in the match-day squad for the rest of the season, at the very least.

Deliberately antagonistic & rub people up the wrong way

Yes I’ve been impressed with him, not the finished article yet, but definitely improving game on game. Looking forward to seeing him play with Taylor, who I think will teach him a lot, and make him an even better player.

His confidence is growing by the game. He is but still looks a touch cumbersome in possession but as long as he keeps scoring who cares! Should of made it 2 nil and had a couple of opportunities where he should of shot instead of trying to pass. All in all though the lad is doing really well and I look forward to him playing with Taylor.
