I am not very good - ignore the first option....

Stick Pearce in defence for solidity and Igor up front and we have a great chance.
It's a cup game so you can only be so confident.
Win or lose I'm determined to enjoy it. Only 2 big Wembley occasions since 1947 (FM Cup was small) and this one will be recorded in HD for posterity. Who's to say when the next one will be and the next time could be against a small club with 15000 fans. This is big.

I’m ok still. Maybe Friday night was a reality check for the team and us fans. It might prove to be not a bad thing after our tremendous run prior to that.
Just shows that we have to be really on it , as we are not unbeatable.... Having said that , we haven’t become a bad team overnight, and we have shown many times, how good we can be .
I’m sure Sunderland fans are not that confident after their awful form at the end of the season , and even in the playoff against Pompey , looked far from convincing .
Come on ,be positive , it’s all on the day , we have as much chance as they have , and they have a dreadful record in finals .

I’m 60/40 towards thinking Sunderland will win thats the long term charlton supporter coming out in you - we’ve never done things the easy way and never believe we can do it , hopefully the team have the belief 👍🏼

This is going to be controversial but if there is one thing I would change it would be Maxwell in for Phillips.
Dillon is one of the main reasons we are at Wembley but I just think that if there is one player the occasion will get to, it will be him.

I’m 60/40 towards thinking Sunderland will win I'm feeling much the same. <iframe width="20.399999999999977" height="3.0400000000000063" style="position: absolute; width: 20.399999999999977px; height: 3.0400000000000063px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none;left: 15px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_35398156" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="20.399999999999977" height="3.0400000000000063" style="position: absolute; width: 20.4px; height: 3.04px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 963px; top: -5px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_72492021" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="20.399999999999977" height="3.0400000000000063" style="position: absolute; width: 20.4px; height: 3.04px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 15px; top: 92px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_45226735" scrolling="no"></iframe> <iframe width="20.399999999999977" height="3.0400000000000063" style="position: absolute; width: 20.4px; height: 3.04px; z-index: -9999; border-style: none; left: 963px; top: 92px;" id="MoatPxIOPT0_97566428" scrolling="no"></iframe> With their squad, and budget, Sunderland should have walked to the title this season. That said, they looked very ordinary in the games against Portsmouth, albeit very efficient in the second leg. If there is one thing firmly in our favour, it's that they should have won the league, but didn't. Clearly their manager isn't getting the best out of them. If we play like we did on Friday, we'll lose. Here's hoping the Charlton of the last four or five months shows up instead. We need Taylor and Aribo on top form and we need the midfield to control the game. If we do that, I think we'll have enough.

Approaching the game with my usual optimistic pessimism. It’s a one off game, a shoot out at the OK Corral. There can be only one winner. Confident it will be the men in red, I think🙈🙉🙊

I think Pearce would help the whole back line, probably Dillon as well. Naby and Pearce for me.

However he looked in control during the 120 minutes (Dills kicking the ball into touch is par for the course) and revelled as we went into the pens. But the greatest sign that he’s comfortable is he led the singing of “Twist & Shout” in the dressing room post game 👍

I think both Pearce and Pratley will have a part to play on Sunday , though I’m not sure that either will start .
Dillon doesn’t look as though he lacks confidence to me , I thought he handled the penalty shootout well on Friday .

I’m not sure that Pearce will start but Pratley has put himself in with a great chance to start given that they have Cattermole and Ledbitter in their central midfield. More attacking options can be added in the later stages if required.

I can't see Bowyer messing with the defnce, but I'd be amazed if Pratley doesn't start ahead of Morgan, mainly for the reasons jonkool outlines above - Cattermole and Leadbitter.

I suspect you just said that to get a debate going, Paul - that and the fact that he comes from Wrexham!
We all know Phillips will be in goal. And I suspect it will go down to pens and Dillon will do us proud. He's a lot more sane than the lunatic Illic who was our hero in the '98 shoot-out!

Can’t wait. Really looking forward to it. Determined to enjoy the match, whatever the result, but desperate for promotion.
Bowyer’s team selection will be interesting. Assuming he reverts to his preferred midfield diamond, I reckon he’s got four decisions to make.
First, does he stick with Anfernee Dijksteel, who I felt really impressed last Friday, or opt for Chris Solly’s experience. Sadly for Solls I think he’s going to miss out. Dijksteel’s pace, power and energy will get him the nod. He could star.
Second, does he risk the Nabster? I’d love him to get the man of the match award, but how will he cope with Wembley’s wide open spaces? Mallik Wilkes had him on toast for Donny’s third goal on Friday and it will be hearts in mouth if he finds himself one on one on Sunday. Fingers crossed Ben Purrington can protect him. I expect him to start.
Third, who joins Aribo, Bielik and Cullen in midfield? An opportunity for either Morgan or Williams to shine, but who’ll get the chance? I’d risk Morgan, but I’ve no idea what Bowyer will do.
Fourth, is Igor fit enough to start? Josh Parker works hard, but the ball simply doesn’t stick to him. Perhaps the decision here is whether to start with Vetokele, recognising he may not make 90 minutes, or keep him as an option off the bench.
Should be a great match in a fantastic atmosphere.

I am starting to get nervous now, I hope that the Charlton who finished the season in style turn up- if we play like we did against Doncaster then I foresee trouble. It's all about who settles their nerves first.

Ah right, the evens makes more sense now. 2/1 would be hugely tempting if betting on your own team wasn't the number one jinx.

Interesting that we are now at 50:50 between winning and losing now that we are up to 30 participants. Fair reflection of the actual odds. 21 years since the last one with so much happening in that time.
Win, lose or draw (penalties) let's all enjoy the day and celebrate our club.

I don't know if I will be able to enjoy the day unless we are 6-0 up after ten minutes, and even then I'll have nagging doubts! There's potentially too much riding on the result of the game.

I have often wondered whether I will ever get to see Charlton win in normal time at Wembley.
Today will be game no. 1,117 for me. I've never thought of that being my lucky number(!) but I hope it turns out to be!
Whatever happens, it's been a great season to watch, with the team growing together as the months passed. Going to The Valley has been a good experience, with a hardcore of dedicated supporters who got behind the team. The few aways I've done, have also been really good fun.
Enjoy the day everyone and make the most of the occasion.

I was thinking of what you said as the ball rolled across the line ! Unfortunately, 2 players were affected by the occasion at least for a bit (poor Naby) but they recovered well. I can see Dillon being number one for a long time. He showed a lot of character, I was a bit worried about him in the 2nd half at the Sunderland end but he was fine.

That mistake is something he hopefully never goes through again. To his credit he did everything right after that. Can’t ask for more.
