Sorry I don’t believe that one bit... We each believe what we want to believe. But some people will not see the reality of the situation we are in. Bowyer has already said it is the lowest budget in the Championship. I am all for putting a positive slant on things, but I really struggle to put a positive spin on what is happening at our Club at the moment. Things need to change and change fast. A Takeover needs to happen and happen soon. Otherwise this downward spiral will continue. I believe it is two weeks till we start training. I think we have about eleven players under contract.

That’s untrue .. Bauer was already on 5 figures and we have made him a lucrative offer which will make him our highest earner ... Williams has been offered around 10k to join us ... Aribo was offered a substantial increase ( he was only on around 3k) and Taylor new offer takes him into 5 figures ..
Our wage budget is around 12k a week but like last season the budget can be adjusted for certain players that Bowyer wants one of them is keeping Bauer ...

Should Championship Football Players Earn So Much? The debate on footballer wages will never end. When it comes to the highest-paid earners at clubs such as Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa, salaries are sky high compared to some of their Championship rivals. When players are earning close to £80,000 per week, it makes you think... The average YEARLY Championship wage back in 2006 was around £150,000. That works out at around £3,000 per week - still an extraordinary salary compared to your average Joe in the United Kingdom. 12 years on and the average wage has rocketed; players are averaging closer to £25,000 per week. www.888sport.com

How can Taylor’s offer take him to only five figures mate ? That makes him on less than 2k a week . I think most will be on six figures already . edit : sorry I guess you are talking per week

Charlton Athletic are to tie up the signing of striker Macauley Bonne, who has been linked with Sunderland, on Monday morning, according to the Sun.
Bonne is currently on the books at Leyton Orient and helped the club win promotion from the National League last seaso

Surely Taylor will be paid as much as Bauer . I wonder what we offered Aribo , and what Rangers offered .

If its the guy I am thinking of, I watched him in a pre-season friendly Concord Rangers v Leyton Orient (I went to see how Danny Green was doing who had just signed for Concord). Looked pretty useful and scored I think, but its a big step up from playing against Concord to playing the likes of Leeds et al! Mind you, Lyle Taylor played for Concord, so you never know!

It can only be a financial decision for me, Scotland is a footballing retirement home. Shame as I think Joe’s a very talented player.

This Twitter thread from Swiss Ramble on Sunderland and the Championship illustrates the revenue and costs..you have to scroll quite far down to see the wage bills for 2017/18... and most are through the roof.
Sunderland have had a massive wage bill these last two seasons but failed both times whereas Sheffield United have secured success on the cheap.
A typical Championship club had a wage bill in the range £25-45M whereas seven clubs are trying to succeed spending less than £20M.
A successful academy player might be on £3K a week and the trick is to coach them, play them and get them signed up on long term deals. And good loan deals don't have to cost a fortune either.

Was reading about that Mcauley Bonne that we’d been linked with , he’s off to play in the African Nations Cup... he seems like he may be worth taking a flyer on... Glad that LB and SG seem to agree.... #itk 😘

Some might not see the “reality” but then who actually knows what the reality is? We get told there’s no money by every negative force out there but then allegedly spend £200k on an unproven forward. So somebody is obviously wrong?! We both agree on the takeover but I want it to be to the right group, not some willy, nilly fantasy group who’ll mortgage the infrastructure! I don’t know how many we have under contract but I imagine deals are there ready once LB signs.

I have no idea where some people get information from about other people’s financial business. But I think you will find that most professional football players ( and other sports team players come to that ) are paid on a contracted monthly wage, sub divided into basic pay, appearance pay and performance bonuses. Only the aforementioned plumber gets paid by the week and he probably hides most of that 😁

Can see him getting on the end of a lot of the balls that Lyle plays into the box. Back up penalty taker as well.

Why? Nothing has changed since last week! Well the biggest thing is Bowyer hasn't signed a contract yet last week i was more confident he would not so sure now. Secondly who the fuck would want to manage us under this Helmet RD. Chris Wilder ?
