Can't blame him for taking the opportunity to play in the Premier League. It may be his one and only opportunity and one unlikely to be obtained staying with us. Who wouldn't have done the same in his place. He is not a Judas.

Got himself in trouble last summer, club stood by him, gave him more game time this season and he fucks of the first chance he gets.
Judas, one greedy bastard.

Not many League One players would turn down a move to the Premier League. Had he not done well at Crawley he might have been let go last summer.

Tbh I thought this initially but then I thought the career of a footballer is unpredictable and short so thought I’d do the same. He brought some good money to the club when he could have gone for peanuts, it’s not his fault the owner decided not to spend it on a replacement...,

I can well understand him wanting to leave and probably triple any wages we would’ve offered him . Maybe a once only opportunity for him .
I can see Reams’ point of view though also . He’s a passionate fan , who is big on loyalty , and Grants leaving , might well have badly damaged our promotion prospects . Unfortunately , loyalty from a player is almost unknown in these days of high earnings .
Like I said , I can see both sides of the debate , and everyone is entitled to their opinion and take on it .

Some might regard Grant as a traitor or 'Judas' for wanting out, but he has still contributed 14 league goals towards Charlton's promotion push this season.
Other Charlton players - Vetokele and Parker in particular (but there are others) - have professed their loyalty to the cause but contributed next to nothing.
That's a worse betrayal in my opinion. If we don't win promotion this season it won't be Grant's fault - it will be down to some of his team-mates who have completely failed to stand out and make a difference.

If he had failed at Crawley the club would not have stood by him and got rid

Calling him a Judas is quite pathetic- a contract means you hire somebody for a specified period of time and then you renew the contract or it runs down...moving on is the way it is... it doesn’t make him a Judas.. ridiculous attack...

Well done Grant. It’s just what l was hoping he would do. Take his chance and another prem club might pick him up when they go down. It’s why l pay into Valley Gold. To see our young players getting the opportunity to be a success no matter where that may be.

They didn't really sell him on the cheap. His contract would have run out in June. Huddersfield could have waited till then and paid a development fee. So the fee we got for him was reasonable. All academic as it goes in RDs sky rocket.

He was called out before the season started as not being good enough, so why the fuss now?...

Somewhere amidst everyone's twisted emotions (my own included) lies the truths, and there are many.
1. RD could have been more proactive contract wise. 2. Everyone of our hapless coaches could have given him more game time (I said on here after the Fulham 4-0 debacle that he'd play in the Premiership) 3. Grant could have said sod the money, I'm getting to the Championship with Charlton, the club that gave me my big chance.
Number three is the correct moral decision, but such is modern life and greed that the pleasure and honour of playing pro football is simply not enough. We cannot bring back the old days of home grown players...and that I'm guessing is the reason for Reams "Judas" comment. In a way I cannot disagree, but this attitude is not just the domain of Mr Grant.

I’m really pleased for him. I didn’t think he would make it, and I’m still not convinced. A couple of goals doesn’t change the fact that he looked poor in the third division in about a third of the games he played this season.
Insisting that we Sold him on the cheap is just ridiculous, in my view.

Grant was out of contract. Lookman had years left as he signed a new contract not long before. I really don’t get these comments.

Hopefully he will score bundles and a big club comes in for him and we included a sell on clause in the sale contract.
