Off work sick today. Enjoyed that. I know the Keyworth area pretty well as my brother works there.

Tbh I was thinking there would be an extensive write up of the game from a neutral position but the game was just summed up. Thanks for the insight into your life but I thought the write up could have been better. Just my opinion of course!

It's a clever attempt to parody Alan Partridge, but not enough about the match for me.

I agree that the article is a bit rambling, but mention of the ‘famous Clifton All Whites’ really bought back memories for me. I played U16 football in Nottingham in the early seventies (very early if I’m being honest) and Clifton All Whites were the most well known age group teams even then. However, my age group at the club I played for had some very good players. We were better the All Whites and we ended up league winners!! 😎
Our coach was the brother of the late Maurice Edelston, an ex player and famous radio commentator. ‘More experienced’ posters may remember him. We called him ‘Clink’. I never did know why, but he was very, very hard to please!!
The author also mentions a match involving a Miners’ Welfare team. As a 17/18 year old I played senior football against several of those too.
Those were the days!!
