That's all well and good KHA, but the managerial hate of the few is based on not thinking very clearly, because hate hides all logic. Your reply has logic because you do not hate RD, so the original question stands good if you take into account the mindsets of the haters. There are no haters, just fans of CAFC who disagree with you. If you are talking about Lee, I can see why people were / are sceptical as he's at the beginning of a new career even he wasn't sure he'd have the chops for. Given a bit of leeway for the lack of experience and we are where we are, which is 8-10 places above where I'd have thought given the messy closed season. I have far more confidence in the team I see now than the team I saw end of last season. Some say it could have been a proper rout yesterday. 4th with these injuries. Can't wait for the rest of the season which could well see us in a different league this year - brilliant. A mate / fan I travel to London with does not disagree with my logic, does not boycott but still hates RD.

The poll already says what a forgiving and sensible lot we are on ITTV. Maybe he'll even take in a game or two Or maybe he won’t. The only reason he’s allowing the club to be run properly is because he’s selling it, and he’s made agreements with (potential) new owners. He doesn’t give a crap about Charlton, you, me or any other Charlton fans. Forelock tugging out! Some of us made this observation a long time ago, long before the club was even up for sale. The minute CAFC was set to be relegated back in 2016 there was a decision taken to let Riga go and move to a traditional British manager, together with signing British (and Irish) players from the lower leagues. We stuck with the academy and loans from the FAPL but the shift in direction was to re-align the club and give it the appearance of being run properly. We started this second part of the Duchatelet era with Slade, Driesen and Meire in charge - that went well! But since then we've had over two years of football dominating the narrative and steady progress with the squad. The baseline under Slade was set low and when KR became available after leaving MK Dons the real transition began. First Meire retired from front of house then Gallen was recruited as head of recruitment and Bowyer joined as a coach. KR was allowed to recruit an entirely new midfield over the next two windows as well as bringing Konsa and Aribo through. No more foreign signings, loadsa talent coming through from the academy and decent loans like Mavididi and Dasilva. Our form picked up from April 2017 which was the point the first XI changed extensively with Crofts, Watt, Teixeira and others gone. We are now fortunate to have a highly competent management team running the first team squad, recruitment and the academy. They have managed a culture shift within the club and the grapevine is now very positive so there should be a decent crowd at the Valley next week to watch us play the mighty Accrington Stanley!

Forget promotion...a cab driver on another forum says we'd come straight down, setting embarrassing records on the way. I was absolutely knocked out that a cab driver knew so much about football and future world events

8th in the Championship would make it more likely that Roland can find a genuine buyer for the club, so of course that is the best place to be next season.

I think it's very difficult to determine whether being in the Championship will make a sale of the Club more or less likely. But all other things being equal (including that) it is obviously better to our Club to be in the Championship than in League One, from a footballing point of view anyway. Whatever is happening off the pitch, it is entirely natural for fans to want to see their team competing against the best possible opposition at the highest level they can reach.

So if it was the case that we were 8th in the Championship under Roland , would that mean that the boycotters would continue another calendar year of abstention...? Surely there comes a time when football becomes the overriding factor...
