As true as this statement is with the availability (and ease) of getting to watch the games in HD on a tele it does make the case for not going at all. At £5 a time it's less than the petrol I would use to drive to The Valley, not to mention the c. £500 a year on the season ticket. It also means that I save myself four hours based on driving up, parking, walking to and from the ground and I am home befofe 5pm after a game. Never mind away games and midweek games. The combination of iFollow and the boycott may well make The Valley too big for us on a permanent basis. I agree with much of what you say KHA, but there is still nothing like live performance for me, whether it be sport or music. So I will continue to travel up to the Valley and go to a couple of away games each season. We would all love an owner like the sadly deceased Leicester owner, but it happens very infrequently. I completely agree Canterbury but it’s just not the same, for me, going on my own.

Blimey some people on here seem so disillusioned I can't imagine why they even bother to come on sites like this. If you IFollow home games and a lot of other people do the same there will be no club to support PL54 outlined the ifollow rules on other thread which I for one was unaware of , no games on Saturday afternoon , so anyone counting on watching Charlton all season on ifollow probably would only get half a dozen games or so... The rules are based on the presumption that people will only use a UK based stream. The whole idea of iFollow is that they broadcast all games overseas. All you need to do is hide behind a VPN and you can watch them all. I have watched all but two away games, and a hand full of home games, on my tv since it started fifteen months ago. Including Walsall tonight .

Returning to the title thread Reams I feel you have been speaking out of turn. All due respect but after the game on Sat you were proper abusive. It seems you didn’t want to go to the game, had us down as losing bankers and abused anyone who argued with you.

Abusive in what way exactly?
I wasn't up for the game no but isn't that up to me how I feel? It's my time and money it's nobody's place to tell me how to spend it but because i spent it and I was actually at the game I am fully entitled to gibe my opinion what I saw.
Many thanks for your post though, keep them coming because you and others just keep on convincing me that I this forum has come to the end of the road, at the end of the season I'm walking away, I don't need the aggro or the headache.

Not just Everitt is it. The 2 lads Tom Wallin and Lewis Catt from the Charlton Live Podcast are just as vocal here, if not more!! Where is the 'studio' for Charlton Live ? Valley Central, opposite the club shop

I appreciate you running this forum Reams, as I’m sure everyone does but if other posters posted some of the stuff you do- you would ban them. I like this forum and don’t want to quarrel with you, but you were fairly insulting the other day. I don’t have time to trawl through previous posts but I remember you calling someone a ‘glue ridden prick’ or words to that effect. As I say I’m not after a quarrel- just saying

Yes that was Bexleyboy, the reason I called him that was because he came on here goading me, a post that I removed.
I wish I hadn't now actually because people would have a better understanding of why I reacted.

That is true, you can, indeed, watch the games that are not affected buy the Saturday Blackout without a VPN, but you can only watch the Saturday games with one, and in any event it's only £5 with a VPN.

Everitt is saying Charlton fans are too fatigued with Duchatelet (as in fed up with him) rather than they are too physically tired (as in lazy) to come to the Valley. That is so obvious it can only be misunderstood deliberately by people who enjoy trying to discredit RE whatever he says. What's your point? We're all fatigued with Duchatelet, I would have thought it's even more reason to have a protest. The amount of abuse you dished out to the anti Duchâtelet mob on here was phenomenal. Now you’ve ‘changed your mind’ you just can’t bring yourself to admit that they were right, and you were wrong. So you turn on the most vocal of the CARD crew as if they are our enemy, when they clearly are not. Why try to keep Charlton fans divided? Get over it, and try to play a part in bringing fans together. I know what you’re after, and you won’t get it by that approach. The opposite in fact. Thanks very much.

Jog on fella, your a one post a year merchant. If I ever want your advice I will ask you for it which is very unlikely. Know what I'm after? Don't flatter yourself, you don't even know what day it is.

I watch away games on VPN but weirdly wish I couldn't. I reckon I might have gone to a few more away matches instead. ifollow is a threat to live attendances. Making it much more expensive would help, but going to Rochdale for example, with the time and expense, is less attractive than watching for 6 euros.

Fair comment m8
The idea of going to away days other than against local rivals is a relatively new phenomenon brought about by the construction of motorways and the (relative) improvement in train travel over the more recent years.
Can you imagine travelling to Rochdale by car or train back in the 30’s - it would take 3 days there and back 😉

Has Mr Everitt got a new job? Not yet, but it is both imminent and on-the-brink.

No - but he's got a new wig by the look of that picture.

Rick knows something about the operations and much about reaching out to the fanbase but he's not a marketeer in the modern sense. His successor, Ben Kensell is now Chief Commercial Officer at Norwich and may be in the EPL next season.
Part of the narrative in VotV and elsewhere has been to slate the SMT both collectively and individually. How they're not as good as the old guard. And yet it was Curbishley who secured promotion to the top tier and not the back office management.
It really isn't rocket science to run CAFC. Else they would have employed rocket scientists!
PS David Joyes was our CFO and he too was targeted - he's now doing the same role at Boro and is also looking to be in the EPL next year.

And a deflection. There are plenty of people maintaining a diplomatic stance rather than trying to make headlines. What matters today is that Bow keeps the wheels on our campaign and is given the support and budgets in January to reset the squad. We are a play-off challenger today - we need to move up a level in terms of consistency and performance so as to have a crack at Wembley.

Amazing how these influential SMT members have not been missed since the departure of KM and DJ. And Keohane's pet project of developing Sparrows Lane has gone well, hasn't it?

Can you imagine travelling to Rochdale by car or train back in the 30’s - it would take 3 days there and back 😉 The team managed it by travelling on trains, so I’m not sure if it would have been quite as difficult as you suggest? But as you say, it just wasn’t done back then. Interesting book to be written on the subject I think!
