Clarke was decent last night. He still looks like he needs more game time. But he will be an asset for the rest of the season.

Some nice touches of quality, but still not looking fully match fit. That 60-70 mins will do him the world of good though. Went off to a good reception. So did Wiredu No 44 who looks very raw, but has some talent and with those long legs awkward to play against at right back.

You'd have thought he was the 'White Pele' the way people are going on ! He has shown to be very good player at this level -- we have missed having him in the team -- It's no wonder fans are pleased about his return --

Tariqe Fosu has been in no kind of form at all since recovering from his injury.
I hope Billy Clarke can have more of an impact.

Agreed. But Fosu definitely made a difference on Sunday at Mansfield, without doing anything special.
I think Fosu is more suited to a front 3 system. He plays well out wide left, cutting inside. In the narrower Bowyer system it looks like he gets crowded out a bit.
But a couple of goals and he could get up and running.
Great news regarding Clarke. I wonder if he'll start v Mansfield next Tuesday in place of Cullen?

People forget he come back twice and got injured again perhaps this as taken it’s toll and more important most likely playing in his mind and he holding back a bit to avoid another injury

Got the feeling for a few weeks now that maybe LB don’t fancy Billy or think that he can return to his best form...

Bowyer clearly comes across as not the sharpish tool in the box doesn't he?
Firstly he says - No setback, then a little bit later on he contradicts himself by stating that he felt something in training on Thursday?
Another point I would like to raise is that Bowyer says: “I spoke to Billy yesterday. On Tuesday’s game he got caught a lot in possession. Billy Clarke never gets caught in possession, he’s too clever. That just shows you that he’s not ready yet. It’s going to take time.
Now correct me if I'm wrong but Clarke is nowhere near a player who can play at the base of the diamond formation, he's very good in the number 10 role, clearly he's uncomfortable where Bowyer has started playing him so naturally he's been caught in possession a few times.
You can't drop a player because he hasn't impressed playing in a role he's not used to, he's be a different animal just behind the two strikers.

Bow was referring to Reeves in terms of being ready to return - possibly Tuesday? And having a doubt last Thursday.
We have Ward, Aribo and Lapslie / Reeves / Fosu playing as attacking midfielders and we no longer play five plus one striker, so there's one less space for Clarke as a midfielder. And Bow is perhaps feeling the pressure from losing both Pratley and Cullen lately so looking to see if Clarke can play there - just in case Bielik unavailable or has to drop back to centre back.
But agree with your point that a player returning from a long term injury shouldn't be expected to excel out of position. It's likely we might see Clarke on the bench soon enough but can't see him displacing any of the first XI right now. To be honest, I'm more interested in seeing when Page is back since we have a lot of games coming up and just two full backs.
As for Bow's style, he comes across as authentic but there is the big question around how this team is going to evolve from a sixth place side into a team that can win promotion. We've won three on the spin in the league and a win on Tuesday might well see us close the gap on those clubs ahead but there are still doubts...

Anyone else suspect that Bowyer is not telling it as it is as far as Billy is concern.
Not featured for two games now yet Bowyer claims there has been no setback!.......Pull the other one Lee.

Perhaps you need to be that little bit fitter to play at the top of the diamond than you do at the base which is why he has stepped out of the picture temporarily.

Against Mansfield Clarke struggled a bit with the holding role. He didn't get tight enough when Mansfield had the ball but on the ball he was ok (at least he was positive in his passing). Perhaps it was just an experiment to see if he could be the answer now that Cullen is out.
I don't think it's necessarily a question of having to be fitter for the tip of the diamond, more he's not quite fit enough or naturally suited to the base of the diamond.
I suspect Clarke will feature against Donny and will be interesting to see where he plays. Bielik hasn't convinced as defensive midfield and I wonder if we'll play him and Sarr together at the back (resting Bauer and Pearce). I wonder whether we might try Reeves at the base of the diamond? I'm sure I saw him play deep for MK Dons at The Valley and he did it well.

Yes I think so too , Bielik may drop back to CB on Saturday ,and maybe Bauer will be rested, Solly also . . Hopefully Reeves is fit , Clarke gets some more minutes, and team will improve on recent performances . Im not expecting too much if there are a lot of changes .

The problem is, beat Doncaster and we could get a big tie in the next round.
The league is the priority but we have a lot of work to do to stay in the PO positions, playing a strong team on Saturday won't impact on that I don't think.

Official Site from Bowyer:
Bowyer said: “Billy is training again now but he’s not ready at the moment.
“It’s hard for him to take because he wants to play. It wouldn’t be fair to throw him into these kind of games at the moment because he’s not physically ready.”

Very disappointing news for us and for Billy but clearly he hasn't managed to come out the other end of his 12 month lay off the same player who did his cruciate.
That said I still think he is too important a player to let go.

Could be the right time for Billy Clarke, With only 6 months left, and family still up north?, chance to find a permanent deal, before contract runs out.
