So, with under a week before the 2015/16 season begins what are your thoughts on the squad as it stands ? How we will do against QPR, and what line up should we expect ?
I think that our current squad might be to thin, even with one or two additions before the opening day, and next season might be a more appropriate time to look towards the play offs, but who knows ?
Regarding next week's lineup, I can see Diarra starting at CB and Fox at LB due to the fact that that's how it's been all through pre season, even after new arrivals.
How do you think we will do in the opening day and what lineup do you expect ?

Austin left out of their squad in a friendly today because he only trained twice this week

I would like to see this starting line up with a Strong bench. Subs: Mitov, Lennon, Diarra, Kashi, Jackson, Aherne-Grant, Vetokele Good bench, Mitov is a fantastic keeper wich i hope we can keep hold of over the next year or two, Lennon has always looked solid when I have seen him, lots of experience in Jacko and Diarra and good attacking options in Igor and Karlan.

I like your line up, apart from Bauer and Sarr being on the wrong side, but as you state in your original post, I think we are more likely to see Diarra and Fox.

Impossible to call the starting XI but the one above looks OK. How we do vs QPR depends upon pairs of players... We know about Solly / Gudmundsson so no worries there but it's a new partnership on the left and centre back / centre mid/ centre forward.
Big game and we have no way of knowing how QPR will adapt to the Championship - this could go either way.

I think we might take some time to get going.
For me, the balance of the team still isn't quite right. For all his faults, Bulot complimented JBG quite nicely on the wing and gave us some natural width. I'm not sure we have that with this squad.
Bauer and Sarr worry me, purely because I know nothing about either of them. We only need one to be a donkey and we're in real trouble, because Diarra isn't a good enough replacement.
I think there's goals in us, but not a hatfull, and we're still begging for a 20-goals-a-season striker. Finally, losing Henderson is another big miss. Remember how we did last time he was out of the team?
I don't think it's all doom and gloom - I'm excited to see Ba, Ceballos and Bergdich (once ready) and I think Makienok could give us a different threat if used correctly, but overall there's too many variables from last season for me to be confident that we'll get off to a flyer.

I'm anticipating a slow start to the season, beginning with Saturday. As I said in one of my previous threads, it's not been the best of summers. We are still really quite short on numbers (calculate the amount of players released/sold with the amount of players signed, it's easy maths).
As for quality, time will only tell as all of our new recruits are completely unknown to myself, and others I'm sure.
I like the look of the pictured line up, however, I can't see Luzon going with that. I have no doubts he would rather player certain players out of position although to be fair to him his hand is forced (did i mention the lack of numbers?).
Hoping for a draw. To achieve that I personally think would be a result!

Given the tsunami of enthusiasm that has engulfed our supporters since the summer signings bonanza, surely we will get a crowd of 20,000 plus on Saturday v QPR?
The Hoops have sold out their 3,200, so really no excuses given that Duchatelet must have invested at least £10 million on new playing talent this summer.

Grow up and change the record.

Doubt Sarr will be playing on Saturday, So I expect Diara and Bauer to continue at the back, also think Fox will start ahead of bergdich, again he has had no real pre season with us. Hoping Ceballos plays he has had no real pre season however think we need the attacking option he brings.

Oh come now Reams you're going to make Royston squeam and squeam until he's thick making comments like that. In an inventory of dodgy avatars that has to be your dodgiest yet Royston.

I know it's still Summer Holiday time but, I will be disappointed if the crowd is not over 20,000. First match of the season, lots of new players and London derby. BUT .....,I predict Makienok will be the new LEABURN. Sometimes good but mostly frustrating.I think he is good in the air but doesn't have scary physical presence to attack the ball and knock players off it.

I'm pessimistic about QPR. I feel Pope is too weak of a keeper and too many of our squad members are untested.
I think our starting games are too difficult for us to build momentum for a playoff push.

I think our starting games are too difficult for us to build momentum for a playoff push. Having seen most of our pre season friendlies, Pope is the tip of the iceberg. He will be absolutely top class given a run of games. If he does make a mistake he doesn't need a bunch of fleck spitting, drooling idiots digging him out. Our problems will mainly be up front again. We are not going to score a lot of goals with the current strike force.

I've done £400 quid on various bets on us getting promoted! I'm feeling very optimistic.

Always excited at the start of a new season. Lots of new names on the team sheet and finally time to draw my own conclusions based on their performances in the shirt. Not sure we will get 20000, holidays always play a part at this time of year, and tickets have been on restricted sale only for quite a while now which always has a negative impact. Be happy with a score draw and 17500 COYR

Far too many on holiday for us to get anywhere near 20,000.
That aside, I expect crowds to be hovering around 15,000 this season, maybe 18,000 if we start challenging somehow.

I don't think your are that far off there mate. Cheers mate. Think a lot depends on whether Fer and Austin play. If so this a more solid and secure lineup.

There are rumours that Solly was injured before the Bolton game and will not play Saturday. I also think he may consider Sarr and Bergdich not fit enough to start, so Fox and Diarra to start. Also talk of Taylor goalkeeper cover on the bench

Expect a line up nothing like any Charlton fan wants.. Players out of position (Diarra and Cousins) due to a squad far too small..
That's the negative done.. Positive..........
We'll start winning games after Christmas, if we sign another six players between now and then.

I have a feeling that this is going to be a very mixed bag for the first 4-5 games. Looking at the midfield and strikers I think we should be a lot more creative than last season, whether that translates into goals I'm not sure. The worry is that we look like we'll be shipping cheap goals constantly at the back, so we'll have to outscore the opposition in order to get anything that resembles a point. Unlikely - especially against the firepower that teams like qpr have (at the moment)

Lot of changes at QPR as well. If Charlton can get at their defence, there will be goals in it. I reckon Watt will be on the score sheet.

GL says Bergdich not fit enough to start on Saturday and Igor out for about another 2 to 3 weeks. Henderson should be back after international break in September
