Charlton in the FA Cup final or England in the World Cup final? You could only go to one. Which one?

England.
At 26, I really hope and believe that I'll see CAFC win a big trophy in my lifetime. As far as England goes, I'm less sure.

England. I've seen charlton win 2 league titles and at Wembley in a play off final to get to the premiership in one of the greatest games ever. I would love to see England win the euros or the world cup now. Hell I'd even take a confederations cup win!

Great thread lewisham, I would say England but the passion has gone out of the National game for me, no sense of pride in it anymore so it would be Charlton to lift the FA Cup.

Realistically, there is more chance of Charlton winning the FA Cup than England winning the World Cup/Euro Champs.
To see Charlton win a major trophy would be the realisation of a life's dream, and that dream is what encapsulates being a football fan. I suppose most of us are lucky to have seen the 98 play-off final and the 00 title win, yet the FA Cup would end a near seventy year wait for so many.
Watching England is really quite painful. Not since the days of Gazza and the 1996 Euro Champs have I felt excited about the cause.

Charlton. International football is a farce.

I would love to see England win either the Euros or The World Cup, I thought we were going to do it in 1996.
I would love even more to see Charlton win The FA Cup, I'd die a happy man then.
So, it's Charlton for me but I care passionately about England too.

Likewise DFT - don't really understand the hate international football thing. But it has to be Charlton, because when/if it happens I will be there. By the way if people think top footballers don't care about international football, did they watch Gareth Bale on Friday night?

Andy Murray Wimbledon final for me...yeah OK, I know I'm strange. To paraphrase Murray "Anyone but Murray", that applies to McIlroy as well. If they can say "anyone but England" for football I can say the same about their sports. That said, Charlton over England, all day long.

As an aside: Tennis fans are not usually interested in the Nationality. I started following Murray from an early age because I liked his unique tennis and his intent. Couldn't stand Tim's tennis, so didn't watch him.
