We just need someone who can get us to May in one piece. Player acquisition and results in January will determine if that's Peeters or not for the February fixture list is not looking helpful. Once we get to May the squad can be properly strengthened with a good old fashioned 5 in / 5 out approach as Church and others go. We play Blackburn and Brighton next - perhaps we have Watt + others in the squad? Whoever it is, Peeters needs to deliver results to stop this drift.
We are still five points ahead of Rotherham in the bottom six and we need to maintain that gap. To me whether we finish 9th or 14th is immaterial...what matters is that we arrive in May ready to make the next step up. We have some quality but not enough and it will take money and time to finish the job.
Right now Holloway, Slade and Pearce are the bookies favourites for the chop and Peeters is 40:1. We will know by end January if that's accurate or not.
Some say he has 3-5 games whereas others say what's all the panic about. I'm not panicking because M.Duchatelet has invested £20m+ and will make timely precise decisions to protect and develop that investment.
Will that entail reinforcements this week or does that mean a change of coach? No idea but if this winless streak continues then we know the answer - as we saw last March it's a lot, lot cheaper to change the coach than it is to throw millions at players to save a drowning one.
Incidentally coaches of the calibre of Pullis are talking to West Bromwich Albion. It's likely our next coach will be foreign and I think it helps the club if this can be done in the summer. 2015-16 is going to be a different challenge so as I said at the top, let's just get to May in one piece.

I am not suggesting we get rid of Peeters but his constant shuffling of players and formations is not helping us. The main problem is the squad is not good enough. Just look at our bench last night. Pope, Thomas, Ahearne-Grant, these players are not ready yet. Just look at the Ipswich bench, there is no comparison. Gomez is a really promising Centre Half but Peeters is playing him all over the back line. He was awful last night and the constant shuffling of positions is seriously affecting his confidence. The following players are not good enough for a Championship team. Fox, Bulot, Moussa, Harriott, Pigott,Tucudean, Church, PP, Reza, and I will reserve judgement on Pope, Etheridge, Onyewu,.
We have Blackburn coming up and we need to rest players like Solly Bikey and Ben Haim. What sort of team could we put out? We are using a sticking plaster to cover a gaping wound and that wound is getting bigger. We have won six games all season and we are now being dragged down into the relegation mix. Without investment in this transfer window I can see us dropping even further.

Overheard comment walking up Floyd Road after the Cardiff game...
" we need strikers, and we go and sign a 5'6 goalkeeper"

Overheard comment walking up Floyd Road after the Cardiff game... " we need strikers, and we go and sign a 5'6 goalkeeper" He is 6 foot 3. I am sure you will be overjoyed to hear he has signed a permanent contract with us.

If Eiji Kawashima (Standard de Liege's goalkeeper) does come to CAFC, then he is 1.85 metres tall (Which is fairly tall for a Japanese male). He also likes to palm the ball away, very rarely have I seen him clutch the ball to his chest. He likes the ball coming at him high in the air. However, things may change playing for a UK team. I seem to recall he stopped a penalty from Frank Lampard one time. (Edited) Found this video of Kawashima ......... www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJx6a2UWlN8

He's in Australia Doug for the Asian Cup. I wouldn't want him anyway, if you can find footage of Feyenoords free kick in their 3-0 win at Standard in the Europa League, you'll see why, no goalkeeper should get beaten at his near post especially from a 25 yard daisy cutter.
