Pete O'Rourke on Twitter saying that Morrison is close to joining Birmingham on loan. Bit odd as we are already pretty thin in terms of back up. Maybe freeing up wages for a loan in?

or, making money available for a January centre half signing.

Strange timing with Gomez injured and our defence starting to look slightly leaky for the first time this season.

Exactly what I thought, the only replacement we have at the minute, minus Morro and gomez is Terrell Thomas, who hasn't played a game yet. But has been on the bench a few times.

Get Harry Maguire in on loan, since he left Sheff Utd for Hull he hasn't kicked a ball. Good attacking centre half.

Obviously it''s to free up the wages for either a January purchase or a loan

Harry Lennon been recalled from his loan at Cambridge so it looks as if Morro is off. It is obvious to me that Peeters doesn't fancy Morrison.

Sky Sports understands Birmingham are set to complete a loan deal for Charlton defender Michael Morrison today. The 26 year old will be Gary Rowett's first signing as Birmingham manager. I don't understand this move. Our squad is already as slim as Twiggy on a diet. Surely there must be some loan players coming in?

Michael Morrison has joined Birmingham City on loan until Wednesday, December 31st, the club announced on Friday afternoon Olly Groome reports Addicks defender joins Birmingham City on loan Loan runs until December 31st Deal includes 28-day recall clause Michael Morrison has joined Birmingham City on loan until Wednesday, December 31st, the club announced on Friday afternoon. The central defender has racked up 150 appearances for the Addicks since arriving in 2011, but has found his game time limited to just two Championship appearances this term due to the form at the back of new arrivals Tal Ben Haim and André Bikey-Amougou. His only start came in the 1-1 draw at The Valley against Blues earlier this month and Charlton Head Coach Bob Peeters has explained the decision to allow him a temporary move to the West Midlands. “He was not happy because he was not playing and that’s normal because a player should not be happy when he’s not playing," said the Head Coach. “He’s now got the opportunity to go to Birmingham and play and that’s why I agreed to let him go because, in his mind, it’s important that he plays games so he can express himself. “Because he was playing nearly every game over the last few yeas it was very hard for him to cope with this situation so that’s why I agreed to let him go on loan.. “Come January we’ll reassess the situation,” added Peeters. “But, for me, it’s important that if a player wants to go somewhere and play then I won’t hold them back. It’s important that the player is happy.” Morrison will be available to play for new Birmingham boss Gary Rowett’s side on Saturday afternoon in their derby trip to Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Charlton have a 28-day recall clause on the deal. Seems to have been confirmed as a short term loan. I assume this is because Morrison threw his toys out of his pram, I don't think this will strengthen the squad, but just provide some cover. You know what you had with Morrison. Not as good as Bikey and Ben Haim, but he knew the Championship and he knew the club. I assume that this guy won't get a game unless there are at least 2 injuries and Morrison comes back with some game time under his belt.

Seems a strange day of transfer dealings. On the face of it, a Championship standard and experienced centre half has been replaced by another punt. Morrison was the proverbial Ronseal player. He did what was said on the tin.

Good luck to him, hopefully he'll do well enough for them to want to sign him in January for a decent fee and free up his pretty large salary for a new signing or three!

Call me a cynic, but I have a feeling this may have been Rolands plan all along. Re-sign Morrison with the full intention of selling him in January. Hopefully Callum will be off as well. Far too inconsistent for a promotion bid.
