Bournemouth are on a golden run and have won five of their last six.
But most of the other main contenders are struggling for any consistency. Early leaders Forest haven't won in seven and Norwich, who were also top recently, now haven't won any of their last five. Watford have only won one of their last four.
Wolves went four without a win, then two victories has put them equal top. That's how tight it is.
Charlton's tally of two wins in the last five has been enough to keep us there or there abouts. If we can maintain that form until Christmas, we will be in with a great chance of the play-offs.

Other sides have far more goal scoring options mate, it's where we are starting to fall down, not being negative just concerned that we could go down last season's route in terms of goals for.

Play offs are a distant dream unless we can get more fire power up front. Mind you I don't believe we will be in trouble this year and next year with new investment and more experience for our younger players we may be a threat.

Play offs are a distant dream unless we can get more fire power up front. Mind you I don't believe we will be in trouble this year and next year with new investment and more experience for our younger players we may be a threat. Which was always Duchatalet's plan, from what we gather based on the comments Katrien M has made. Nobody had expected or prepared for the Prem in one season, so play-offs would be a bonus (and possibly even an unwelcome one, because it is doubtful that we are ready.) But we are hovering around the top six, just one point away, and nobody is breaking away at the top. There are plenty of decent sides in this division - including CAFC. But, as royston says, there are no outstanding ones, else we wouldn't be only four pts over the top spot with a third of the season already gone. Therefore it would be silly to write off the 'dream' of the play-offs at this stage. Wins in the next two games against Shef Wed and Leeds would almost certainly put us in the top three.

IA - last night showed that we are still half a team away from the play offs. Our midfield was over run faster than the Maginot line.
If you add the duffers (Bulot, Moussa, Tucadean) to the guys who can't perform twice in a week - Solly, Wiggins and Jacko....we are punching above our weight in 9th.

I expect that by Christmas there will be three or four clubs racing ahead for the top two but it won't be us. However it will take a complete catastrophe for us to lose touch with sixth place. I can understand if some are nervous after our first two losses of the season but we have been without Vetokele for two and a half of the last three games. With three points for a win I'm not interested in any more home draws as we start to play lower half teams. This is where the team have to show they are contenders. Impossible to predict the second half of the season but I can certainly see us securing enough points by New Year to have an outside chance of sixth place. That and the FA cup is what we have to play for and a decent home tie will be a bit of fun.
