Just asking the question... Who do you prefer? Forget one left and the other is on loan - just simply, who works best? I'm very impressed by Buyens. He is athletic, powerful and gets stuck in. Poyet had great ability to break up play but, for me,wasn't hurting the opposition. Buyens wins for me...

Thought Poyet had the class look about him that all quality players have of giving themselves time etc , and was disappointed he left .... But buyens looks much more a box to box and passes the ball quicker

Not even a contest, I'm not even going to mention them both in the same post.

Poyet will be a top player. He certainly wasn't the finished article although he had qualities to admire. Buyens at this stage is different gravy. Real class act and a great signing.
Big up to Reams who told us all this at the time he was signed.

Buyens has looked excellent since joining us, but two things I'd mention for a bit of balance;
1. He's surrounded by much better players than Diego was last season 2. He's 26, so more experienced and pretty much at his peak. I fully expect Poyet, if he makes the right decisions, to do more with his career than Yoni has so far

Buyens offers much more further up the pitch, than Poyet ever did, with the additional bonus that he seems to be a reliable penalty taker.

Poyet will be the better player IMO and I would have loved to see him in midfield alongside Buyons but not to be.
Still rate Buyens who looks like he will be a very good player for us his season, hopefully we can persuade him to stay more permanently.

Different players really, Poyet is a defensive midfielder, whilst Buyens is box to box.
Buyens is definately what we need at the moment though, very impressed from his last couple of games.

Buyens for me every time, class act and the finished article. He offers so much more going forward and will probably score a few goals during the season, penalties or otherwise.

Difficult to chose one over the other as they both bring different things to the table. Of the two Buyens is more attack minded and will certainly get us goals. However, Poyet is still a work in progress and potentially a great player if managed well. Wish we could have both of them. Lets hope we can persuade Buyens to make his loan permanent.

Poyet has only played, what was it - 19 games. Buyens is now, but ultimately I think Poyet may be the better player if he doesn't piss his career away, which he has possibly started to do.

Sorry to say it, but Poyet would walk back into our midfield at the moment. After a good start, Buyens has gone off the boil for me and today I thought he was shocking. He needs to get his head together and start turning in some of the displays we saw earlier in the season.

I would have Poyet back over Buyens any day of the week. Remember the second half of last season? Week in, week out the 18 year old lad turned in consistent, quality performances. He grabbed our midfield by the bollocks. What a sorry contrast to Buyens, who has been consistently shit since Brighton away. Yes, he has a touch of skill, but he is so lightweight he needs securing to the pitch with guy ropes. The game passes him by.

Poyet for me followed, like his father, the money trail and if Parker, Bent and Jonjo are anythimg to go by he'll have the money but not the career he believed he would have had.
Boyens, yesterday only rated a 5, the worst game played and for him to drop back after we scored to play between Morro and Bikey, simply amazed me, if BP designated it then he cancelled the move for the second half, some improvement but not much.

We seem to stop playing football after scoring merely concentrating on getting back into position and being hard to get through.

Buyens for me, though he has not played that well these past few weeks. He needs to either play in a 4-5-1 or have a more athletic presence alongside him in a 4-4-2.

I think Solly should spend the next 2 weeks showing Buyens how to tackle.

Just saw this and thought I would add a comment. People can slag our club and our team all they want but we are a point off the play-offs thanks to consistent delivery from back five and midfield. This despite no depth and a few injuries a while back. Buyens, Bikey, Ben Haim, Vetokele, Gudmundsson and now Coquelin are at the heart of that. Poyet had his chance but chose cash, a West Ham bench and now a Huddersfield bench. His choice, his loss. We are going to push on now that the team has had a chance to gel. Some might want to sing the praises of those who declined to play for our club - perhaps they should reconsider whether what their support for CAFC actually means?

Poyet just over Buyens. Poyet rarely gave the ball away, though a lot of sideway passes that hardly hit the opposition. Buyens is a little one paced at times, rash in the tackle, but has a good eye for a forward pass and will get better with more games in English football.

I wonder if Poyet still thinks he made the right move. It certainly has not worked out how he would have hoped.
He's made one Prem start and one appearance from the bench for WHU. He was subbed after 75 mins in a defeat to Man U and came on for just 7 mins v Palace. He's had three unused appearances on the WHU bench but played a full 90 mins plus in their humiliating League Cup exit to Shef U. He last appeared for the Hammers in September.
At Huddersfield, he was subbed after 76 mins in a defeat to Bolton, played the full match in a dour 0-0 Yorkshire derby v Wednesday and was an unused sub once on the Huddersfield bench (same old Powell!)
So since his last appearance for Charlton eight months ago, he has played 248 mins of league football (166 mins of it in a division he thought he was leaving behind) and made one start in the league cup.
His four starts at two clubs have produced three defeats and a goaless draw and his only appearance in a winning side was chalked up via the 7 mins he played v Palace.
It's as miserable an outcome as Parker's move to Chelsea - as some of us predicted at the time - and he's played considerably less football than Shelvey did on his move to Liverpool.
