What a rip off It wasn't that long ago this fixture used to be a fiver, with kids ducking under the turnstiles for free. I will be there, but can't help thinking that Welling's owners are pulling our trousers down with their prices for a PSF.

I agree £15 is okay for a football match but this is a pre season friendly which we all know are never the most exciting of games

It is a piss take for a pre season friendly that will see at least 26 substitutions. Still worth going for a first look at our new players. Joe Pigott scored a hat trick in the corresponding fixture last season.

Welling keep all the money made on gates so it's a non league club trying to stay afloat by asking local football fans and an afliliated club for some help, don't see how you can have a probably with that. They'll make a few 10's of thousands from this which could help pay half the squad for half a year.

Charlton charged £10 for all home cup-ties last season, the game at Oxford & both Huddersfield cup-ties were also £10. The league game at Wigan's splendid DW Stadium was £15.
At the end of the month a much fitter team will play at Peterborough in the penultimate warm-up game, so that will be far more of a proper game than Welling. Peterborough are charging a tenner. All these grounds offer a far better view than Welling. Royston & Scabby are right, Welling charging £15 for a glorified training session can not be justified.

Can't believe people are moaning about this. Welling are a local club and this annual fixture is a big pay day for them. They have a tiny budget compared to most clubs in that division and if my £15.00 helps them through the season I'll willingly hand it over.
This game really isn't about the match, it is about a day on the beer catching up with a few old faces.

Otherwise I would have chosen to support them for the last 40 or so seasons instead. I am happy to see them do well but I don't see why we should excuse their unscrupulous, barrow boy owner taking the piss out of us. Many of us are going along out of tribal loyalty on Saturday for a first look at Bob Peeters, Ventekole, Buyens & Bikey. A tenner for a PSF which is likely to see multiple substitutions is more than reasonable.

A tenner for a PSF which is likely to see multiple substitutions is more than reasonable. Well Welling are MY local team and I am very happy to give them 15 pounds or 20. I am also a supporter of their Gold Bond scheme and I give them 52 pounds a year. I think it is important to back your local non league team and I even get to see them once or twice in a season. I also find your comments about their barrow boy owner both inaccurate and pathetic. Graham and Barrie Hobbins have kept that Club going through many years. Re mortgaging their houses and taking out loans that they can I'll afford. One of the Hobbins died a number of years ago. But the other Hobbins is still working down there with another owner. Charlton is still my first love as my Dad took me when I was seven, but Welling is still part of my affections.

Your choice is go or don't go, £15 seems quite reasonable to me and it gives Welling a chance to boost their finances.
It's not exactly a fortune and you'll be helping a local non-league club.

£15 is reasonable for Charlton fans but, for me at least, this is a fixture that you usually bring your non-CAFC friends along to.
I've told my mates that the game will 'probably be a tenner' to coax them in to coming
Will the turnout be as high with higher prices?

Wrexham a club run by their Supporters Trust charge £22-£25 for Conference football.
Just goes to show that TRUSTS have a lot to answer for.

There are always choices in life. If you think £15 is too expensive don't pay it. Whether you are a Charlton, Welling supporter or a neutral. But no, let us have a good old moan about it. Royston, you make Victor Meldrew look like an optimist. I bet you are a real wow at parties.

You'll be pleased to know they seem to have reduced their prices, now advertising on their website £15-19, an executive box is £30. I'm going for that if we were to draw them in the FA Cup!
