Charlton are interested in Paris St Germain forward Jean-Christophe Bahebeck. The 21-year-old scored twice against Brazil in the final of the Toulon tournament recently to finish top scorer with four goals. Arsenal recently made an approach but were put off my PSG insisting on 50% percent of any sell on. We have now stepped in and talks have began although he is likely to come on a season long loan rather than a cash sale. On loan at relegated Valenciennes last season Bahebeck is said to be very interested in a challenge across the Channel in England.

From the sports paper L'Equipe who are one of the biggest sports outlets in France I think so hopefully there is some truth in it!

Seems a very promising player. Quick Google and Arsenal were interested but PSG wanted a 50% sell on clause.

4 goals in 59 career performances. What's to get excited about?

4 goals in 59 career performances. What's to get excited about? The fact that he is 21 and has numerous international caps to his name at every level of French play aside from the senior team, along with quite a few goals. The lad obviously has skill, he just needs it to be refined. If Le Arse are in for a player you know he's got some quality to him.

I agree with you AA and of course, if he signs, we'll all support him. But don't you think we need at least one established CF rather than a youngster...at present!

I think Peeters needs some time to pass his ideas onto the strikers. All the strikers we currently have, except Church, have some skill to them. There is no reason why Reza shouldn't be able to cut it at the club level when he is Irans star player.

@svenclaes: @joeghguard I heard Bahebeck was in Sint-Truiden last Sunday to see #CAFC play. Also Roland Duchatelet was present. Coincidence? #CAFC

As reported on another thread PSG have turned down a bid from us for Bahebeck but I think this is because Edison Cavani wants to leave PSG which will leave them short up front. I reckon once Cavani's future has been sorted out and replacements come in for him Bahebeck will join us on a season long loan. He'll be fit and ready to go as he would have had a pre-season in France.

If he comes in, it's surely the end of Piggot or Church?

Let us be honest we have got no chance of getting Bahebeck. I can see a Premiership Club stepping in and buying him.

What's Pigott done wrong then? I thought he looked very promising last season.

I think Piggot's main problem is his size, because his tall we think we can launch the ball at him and he can win it. However because his young & inexperienced he doesn't know how to use his size and any decent CB can mark him out of game.
IMO he needs at least a season of first team league 1 football and even then he might not be good enough. I think M Smith would of been better choice but for some reason CP thought differently.

Can I take it we didn't get to sign him then? Thought it was a load of B******s anyway. PSG to Charlton? Says it all really.

It was PSG reserves to Charlton actually when the story emerged which was perfectly plausible at the time however he is having a storming pre-season (Scored 2 more today and added 2 assists for Ibrahimovic) which has put him out of our reach and most other clubs for that matter. It happens unfortunately, it doesn't mean it was ever bollocks in the first place. Some you win, some you lose.
